Yeah, I remember that story now that you mention it. I've had supposedly "good" dealers go bad on me as well, so I just take my business elsewhere. Here in So. CA, we are fortunate to have quite a few dealers to choose from. I currently work with MB Laguna Niguel and so far, so good. They did sell a car, that I had specially ordered, out from under me, but they said it was a mistake, I believed them and they REALLY made it up to me price wise on my next lease. Overall, good people there.

So, Wolf, we wait until when to order, for delivery late December? Late October? You still thinking about a new one or are you going to go for it? I must say that the idea of that Rear Cross Traffic Alert has me very interested. I talk about other brands, but it would take a LOT to get me to switch.

September.
The biggest discounts will be close to year-end for cars that pre-configured on the lot but i likely will want to get it configured. The trigger to pull will be based on the lease rates as it's not worth paying more for the facelifted S than the old. But I would get one at launch if the money was right.

Am still contemplating some other choices but those are based strictly on how tasty the deal is.

1. S-Class coupe/cab. Was offered a new S63 cab for $33K off without asking. We could handle 2 convertibles (one large, one small) if need be but a coupe would be my choice. I will look beyond local.

2. 2017 AMG GT/GTS. Would like to get the GTC coupe for now as we already have a convertible (so no roadster for right now) but that car will come too late (next year). I can get discounts up to $30k on a 2017, so that could be a fun car in the short term. Not practical but fun

I noticed in the latest version of the 2018 DOG, that the color name "Diamond White Bright" has reverted back to standard "Diamond White," so I assume that the color will remain as it has been for the past several years. Heaven forbid that they change a color!

thanks, wolfman. good stuff!

i find the interiour selections to be a bit odd, tbh. looks like magma grey/espresso replaces the crystal grey/seashell. and it apeears they did away with the full-on deep sea blue colour in favour of only using it as an accent colour (like the titanium, like the red) against the silk beige in the highest, most expensive designo upholstery offering (even though one of the photos in the dog shows the full-on deep sea blue seating in the "detailed offering" section of the dog; it's a bit contradictory to be sure). and how many iterations of silk beige does one need?

so instead of these somewhat perplexing colour choices, why don't they offer - for example - a full saddle interiour like is available in the s-coupe? sort of like that bmw tartufo offering that bimmer uses in the 7 (streamliner showed us a picture of that tartufo interiour in the 7-series thread discussiong test drving the bmw 7). i find it difficult to understand some of what is in this document (for a facelift). oh, well -- like the kids say, "whatevs"

Any thoughts on the S450 version? Probably a detuned version of the E43 engine? 0-60 in low 5's? Fuel economy maybe 10% better? When pulling a PO for my S560 order, BASE MSRP on a no option S450 was $100k.

Actually, if MSRP has not been announced yet, MB puts in as a place holder the price of the S class as $100k so I doubt the S450 is priced at $100k since, to my knowledge, the price has not been announced yet. As an example, below you will see that when LovinMercedes posted his order for his custom ordered 2015 S550 the price "place holder" was $100k. Just a FYI.

Since the coupe came out a year after the sedan, does it get a facelift for MY '18 or '19?

Should be MY19, but I haven't seen a launch schedule in 18. There is a chance that it would be actually a MY20 as the later intro of the cab may be taken into account.

This is good news for me having a '17.

On another note, I ordered a '18 GTC selenium/black/black some time ago, and am #1 on my dealers list. I am now hearing the base version is a better riding daily driving car, is this true? Isn't there also several suspension choices including custom?

I noticed in the 2018 Order Guide, there are 3 different Designo Semi-Aniline Leather choices for the S560: Deep Sea Blue, Titanium Grey Pearl and Satin Red Pearl. All have Silk Beige as the primary color. Why is the Deep Sea Blue priced at $3,210, while the Titanium Grey and Red are $6,310. Anybody have any insight into this?

What's the greatest percentage discount from MSRP one should expect on a 2018 S560 ordered ( not a stock unit) toward year end?

On the 2018 DOG I looked at, it showed the blue at $5500.00 and the red & gray at $8600.00. Must be some pre-production hiccups going on.

Prices are $5,500 and $8,600 for the S450 and $3,210 and $6,310 for the S560. I just can't figure out why the Deep Sea Blue color would be $3,100 less than the other two semi-aniline leathers.

It is possible that the DOG (or this version of it) will turn out to be wrong. For my MY2015, Deep Sea Blue wasn't really the same configuration as the more expensive Designo options...the dash has a flat diamond design rather than what I think of as a "3d quilted" look. And the center console is plain leather rather than the 3d quilted. Maybe the pictures in the current DOG for Deep Sea Blue will turn out to be wrong, or maybe the price will turn out to be higher.

Has anybody heard if the 2018 has 4G internet. My salesman didn't know, and called Mercedes, who didn't know offhand and was supposed to get back to him. 3G on my 15 is useless
