Is MB leather easier to maintain?
My wife has the Crystal Gray Nappa leather in her E350. It is quite beautiful, but a very light color and her jeans have started to turn the driver's seat blue. We put in a set of black floor mats. Who puts insanely light floor mats in a car? Mercedes-Benz!

For the 2018 W222, ten of the 17 interior choices, feature seats and carpets that are extremely light colored and, IMO, quite attractive, but horribly impractical. All three of the top line interiors are Silk Beige, with different bits of trim. Would it kill them to offer their most upscale interior in black, or a nice saddle tan or something that just might appeal a bit more to a regular GUY? I'd like to order that type of interior, but I use my car for things other than driving to the yacht club. I've been known to have 2x4's protruding through the front passenger window coming away from Home Depot. Sometimes I think they do this, just so folks will trade their cars more often. Seats get dirty? Time for a new car! I know that sounds ridiculous, but I believe they think that way.

Im sure it's about the same level of maintenance, but that's what happens when you get light leather. It's happening to mine with my porcelain leather. I called leatherique and they said it won't come out and the only way to fix it is to sand the leather and re-dye it. That sounds a little too daunting for me, but apparently people do it with great success. I don't know if the seats can be treated to prevent it, but once it's there, it's only going to get worse.
I'd buy the same porcelain or light leather again knowing this because in my opinion, they look great and it's nice to have something other than the usual black.

Haven't been on the board for a while and just saw your thread...congrats!

Have a question for you. Do you ever notice a mild vibration in your steering wheel when in gear and idling? Shifting into park immediately stops the vibration. This seems to be something new for the '17's, as with my '16 this was not an issue (felt nothing whether load on engine or not).

On another note, you're gonna luv the new 9G trans (just give it some miles to fully adapt).

Thanks

My 2015 did that terribly at first, then there was a service bulletin (check Konigstiger's STICKY thread) that MOSTLY fixed it. It still does it every so often. Annoying, but I no longer consider it a big deal. Seems to now be somewhat tied to operating temp, doing it more when cold.

Congratulations brother. I just read reviews on this car and this is an amazing car which gives you exceptionally serene ride quality and has several high-powered engine options. This car has amazing safety and comfort features and eerily controlled handling around turns with optional Magic Body Control. Beautiful interior and design. I wish I had that car.

Thanks.

Mine's a '17 and the old TSB doesn't seem to apply (hoping there's a new one).

My salesperson checked another new 2017 S class (sedan) and it is exhibiting the same behavior as mine. My 2016 was so smooth, there was 0 vibration in the wheel under the aforementioned conditions.

That fact it comes and goes (although never completely resolves) indicates something's not right and most likely can easily be fixed. Hoping MB comes out with a software revision soon.

Try this next time you feel it...shift into park, then back into drive and see if it gets smoother.

Those AMG 20's look really good with Diamond White.

I have always regretted getting the luxury multi-spoke 20's.

Just ordered an 18 S560 with silk beige/espresso brown interior and diamond white. Decided to go light on this model. My 15 has nut brown/ black interior. How do you like the silk beige? Does it get dirty easily. My car isn't in production till August so I still have time to change anything I want.

If you wear jeans, the blue will rub off on the seats. The beige carpets (WHY are they not Espresso Brown???) are impossible to keep clean. An interior that was ALL Espresso Brown would be lovely and practical, but that would be too easy and people might keep their cars beyond a three year lease. In the absence of any logical reason that MB gives us SO many incredibly impractical interior color choices, I can only assume that they feel that many folks will simply get a new car when the interior gets dirty.

I love the beige/espresso interior.

My '16 S Class has the beige floor mats that not even I (the interior clean freak) could keep them clean. So I did 2 things: one I bought weathertech floor mats and two I bought the dark espresso brown floor mats that started to come standard with the 17 S Class. Why MB did not use these dark floor mats with the beige interior to begin with is beyond me. But now the beige/espresso interior comes with nice dark espresso brown mats.

Here are a few pics of my new sled. Decided to be different and go with the Diamond White Metallic and Silk Beige/Espresso Brown Nappa Leather. Lol. It's what they had on the lot that I could deal on. MSRP was $121,010 and we ended up at $106,000. They also agreed to tint the windows. I asked for 20% but it seems like 30%. Wish it was darker, but I guess I can live with it.

Very nice; I have 799 paint code too; that designo Diamond White is truly amazing to see in person!

I love the attention to detail on the turn signal switches and the leather steering column surround, instead of generic black.

Yes I have Diamond White with Porcelain too; very rare combo and I get lots of compliments on it!

That's the same colors I ordered on my MY18 S560. I traded in my diamond white with nut brown interior. Didn't want an identical car to the one I had. Kept my black all weather mats from my previous car. Was told they did away with beige mats because could not keep clean. Was also concerned about wearing blue jeans in a light colored car, but I'll do my best not to wear them and take the chance of staining the leather. Can't wait to take delivery. Mid August build date with early September delivery. Perfect birthday present to myself.
