Took my '15 S550 in for svc B and aux battery replacement and asked for nav update to most current. The update now shows N.A. 2017/2018 V. 10.0 with Google. System still says Google was discontinued in 2015. However, for the first time, they left the Disc package with the thumbdrive inside and a code with my VIN. Never saw that before. The map also has a crisper, slightly more colorful look, or I am imagining it. Anyway, here's a pic of the package:
Would you mind taking a picture of the window showing this? I just had mine updated and it shows 2016 NA v 7.0. Did my dealer screw up? I'd like ammunition, if you'd be so kind!
Thank you so much!

Not sure what "window" you mean, but here are 2: 1 from car nav screen and the box cover
Glad to help. It'll be interesting to see if you find the graphics slightly improved. I did, but can't put my finger on why. Just seems cleaner and a bit more colorful.

I can tell you from the original 2014 version that the car came with ( I bought it used at the beginning of 2017, no one ever did the updates ) to the updated 2016 version, there was a vast improvement in graphics. Tons more, very colorful and a cool 3D effect.
Not sure how much better it could be, but I won't know until they install it.

Just got back from dealer. They did the latest update and yes, you are not imagining the graphics being improved. They seem a bit sharper, more of them and more colorful...
Thank you again for your thread, I'd still be on a earlier version and have to pay if I wanted anything newer.
I was told by the dealership that here in the UK the 2016 version is available, and 2017/2018 will be out in a few months time
I was just in Germany and took a picture of the version in my rented 2017 S63 when I was changing the language from German to English. Here it is 2017 V10.0 for Europe.
Porsche Taycan, Range Rover AB, Range Rover SVR, S Class, Mclaren 570s, Urus Hybrid (soon), M3, RS6

Thanks, it seemed strange how it wouldn't be available in the UK but is in the US. My cars booked in for half way through august for another problem, I'll try get them to order the update now.

This was in Germany, not in the US. Should be available in the UK anyway.

Thanks for the incredibly unhelpful answer...that is great...
Anyways, back to the subject of the thread. I called my dealer and they still had the 2015 version of the NAV update and were not aware that V10 was available. So for those that are getting old updates or if you have a dealer that is not aware of the update, call the parts manager at your dealership. Email them the thread here and he/she will contact Mercedes Nav and have the new update shipped out. Mine is getting done tomorrow along with some other software updates. I will reply back if I see any major differences between the versions.

Actually, if you read the entire thread as I suggested, you would have gotten your question answered.
I tried to have my dealer update the NAV, but I was told that it would cost $65 (my 2015 S550 is 3 years + 2 months old). She said it wasn't free since I didn't purchase the service option. Is this supposed to be a free upgrade or not? and what service option could she be talking about?

I am not sure what the "service option" is all about. But you get 3 years of free map updates. You missed it by 2 months.

Responsibility for update notification is on MB: “Mercedes-Benz will inform owners when a new update is available.” & “MBUSA will reach out to Multi-Year Update Program customers when a map update is available for their vehicle.” Given your only 2 months out, I suggest contacting MB: http://mercedes-benz.custhelp.com/ap...es-benz-usa%3F to request free update if you were not notified during factory warranty period.

The Service rep said that its not a matter of being 3 years passing by, but rather that my 2015 S550 is an earlier production model (purchased in May 2014), so it doesn't have the option to upgrade the NAV system, since it is not popping up in their system. Has anyone heard of this?
