3D Burmester trunk sub question.

I noticed my trunk sub doesn't only play lows (bass) but also some other tones such as singing comes through but very muffled. Can anybody else with 3D verify? Thank you.

Where are you listening from when you hear these sounds? The trunk? Or?

When I open the trunk and listen to the sub it's just not clear bass. It's mixed.

It’s meant to be listened to from inside the cabin, not the trunk. It’s a non-issue. Just sit back with some Steely Dan or whatever high end recordings you like and enjoy your 3D the way it was meant to be heard, from the drivers seat.

Enjoy!

Yes indeed sounds great! Just never heard a sub with mixed tones.

Hmmm, my '14 has the sub, but I've never noticed what you describe.

You have to open the trunk and listen. I'm thinking my amp for the separate sub might be messed up.

I highly doubt it.

I am sure you are just hearing the higher frequencies coming from other speakers situated in the cabin. Why you would listen to the audio system in the trunk is beyond me, it’s not meant to be heard from there and will always sound weird, bad, distorted.

Again, the cars audio system is meant to be listened to from the interior cabin, nowhere else.

I understand that. I had the radio on and opened the trunk to get something and found it strange. Usually woofers only play bass so I was confirming but it could be they didn't filter it 100% for whatever reason.

Maybe this diagram will give you a better understanding of how many speakers ( not just a subwoofer ) are in the rear of your car.

My first career was as a recording engineer and acoustician, what you are supposing just doesn’t make sense at all. Take my word for it, your amps, sub and entire stereo system is just fine...assuming it sounds fine from inside the cabin.

I have an aftermarket amplifier connected to my rear subwoofer so results may be a bit different, but I checked for what you're saying today and it appears to be correct. I thought it may have been coming from inside but upon raising the volume I could "feel" the sound from the area around it.

Subwoofers produce bass sounds which are lower spectrum waves on the frequency scale. Lower spectrum frequencies at higher volumes can be felt as well as heard.

Your car stereo system is doing exactly what it’s supposed to be doing. Whatever higher frequencies you may be hearing are either coming from the same subwoofer because the crossover point is set higher or it’s bleed through from other speakers in the cabin into the trunk.

Sorry, my son typed up incorrect information. He meant he could feel/hear the higher frequencies on a treble piece of song from inside the boot as I think the op was saying. The Burmester's low pass filter should attenuate the higher frequencies, and so should the Rockford Fosgate Punch(was set up by audio shop). The sounds he heard must have come from the inside of the car and his confusion was probably due to the 3D Sub enclosure amplifying the sound inside which if I remember is kind of like an open ended tube (not sure if it works like that), as you were saying.

Are the added speakers on the bottom of the doors supposed to pump out bass?? I've read they are door woofers but wasn't sure.

How much room, if any, do you lose in the trunk with the 3D stereo? Thanks
