What is the current status of the CLS as a sporty alternative to the S Class?

The CLS was an alternative to the E Class, not the S.

2023 S Class 2013 SL
Seems that on this forum, there was talk of a 'sporty' S Class option in the form on a CLS but with more leg room in the rear compared to the current CLS. And, yet retaining the presence of the S Class.

I own and drive both CLS and S. Love the CLS on weekends after driving the S all week.
