AMG Line cost. Are we suckers or what???
I have been critical of MB over their pricing of the Sports Package or what is now called the "AMG Line" option for the S Class. I mean, how much does it cost to produce the AMG Line wheels & body panels OVER AND ABOVE the non-AMG wheels & body panels? My feeling is that it might be a few hundred dollars, but that's about it. Today, while looking at the MBUSA site for the E Class, I noticed that the AMG Line option price is $650.00 and it INCLUDES upgraded brakes. For the S Class, the option is $5,900.00 and is only for different wheels & body panels, no upgraded brakes--at least not according to the website. I realize this is just marketing, but GEEZE! I guess they must feel that if we can afford an S Class, we are just suckers and that $5,900.00 is just pocket change to us, which may or may not be the case. $650.00 for the option sounds about right to me. Oh well.

Agree, I just purchased a Porsche, their add ons are endless and completely ridiculously over priced, you can spend tens of thousands on "deviated stitching" !

Porsche is different. They make very few vehicles, compared to MB. They are a boutique producer and have determined that there are many crazies out there with more money than brains, so why not take advantage? It is just SOOOOOOO much fun to check all those boxes!
My point here, is why is the E Class AMG Line option, WITH a brake upgrade $650.00 and the S Class AMG Line option, WITHOUT a brake upgrade $5900.00? Because MB thinks we are suckers!

Well, I hate California politics and taxes, but I continue to live here, because despite all its faults, I still feel it’s the best place to live. I take great exception to the way MB markets their cars here in the US and you won’t see me checking the AMG Line box anytime soon, but overall, I still prefer the brand over their competitors.
