Experiment - adding CarPlay
Ok, no guarantees (at all) but I think I've found a way to potentially add CarPlay to my 2014 S63 for about $300.
Step 1 is ordering this unit and connecting it to the RCA inputs in the center console.
Once this has been tested I'll move to ...
Step 2 installing Video in Motion (software only) so the AUX in image over the RCA connectors in the center console is always visible while car is moving. This is more pricey at $200.
Once (if?) I have both of these running I'll do a full hidden install in the center console and I'll find a good place for the included microphone and the input controller.
Unit arrives Wednesday (ordered from Amazon, $80) and I'll add to this thread with photos as I test it.
I have low expectations but I figure it's worth a shot, my wife has CarPlay in her 2017 Audi Q7 and it's great. Can't justify buying a 2018 S Class for this feature but $300 would be well worth it ... if it works.

First wrinkle - seems like some of the Video in Motion solutions unlock everything EXCEPT the RCA connectors in the center console. I’m still waiting to hear back from Bimmerguru on theirs specifically.
If that’s the case I’ll have to find another way to get the video in to the COMAND when the car is moving.
