RUN FLATS strike again! And, it’s not just the RFT, it’s the enormous wheels, resulting in rubber band depth sidewalls. The automotive world is off its rocker with these crazy, huge wheels and low profile, load rated tires. Oh, I know “they handle better.” WHERE? On a race track? Who drives around town to the limits where any of these cars need MORE tire? More and more in auto magazine reviews they are calling out the huge wheels and low profile tires for being the kiss of death to ride quality. Maybe this will go full circle and someday E Class cars will be fitted again with 15” or 16” wheels as they should be. Make the huge wheels optional. If someone wants them, let them order them, but make sensible size wheels & tires standard equipment for the vast majority of drivers who don’t channel Aryton Senna every day on their way to work.

That's a nice car. I've been browsing the W222 s-class for a replacement of my E550, and this one is the color and packages I want. A few too many miles, but the price is right.
I've been torn recently about dropping the 118k for a new one vs finding a CPO for half that vs just keeping my E550 and not spending so much money on cars.

Hype - you have always had great taste in cars and even better taste with wheels. Moved over from my w212 e550 ~17 months ago and loved everything about this W222 except the depreciation. Bought it right and plan to keep it through the 7 year extended warranty like I did the W212 so I won't sweat the $$$ lost. Hate to see you leave the board as your insights are welcomes and your wit is always appreciated...not to mention your invaluable contributions to the Hot Babes thread
The new accord is a very nice ride and I can appreciate the frugal luxury it provides. We bought my 16yo a new Civic last year as it had the best value, safety features and resale. Honda offers a tough value proposition to pass up...and we will most likely buy another one for the 15yo this fall when he starts driving. Figure the civic will get them through college and still have decent resale when they are ready to buy something else with their own money.

Kind of you, thank you. I think I'm actually leaning towards DD my CLS..and not even getting a Honda ...see how far that gets me......warranty until 2019 in March......no way I'll make the miles, but I do really enjoy this car too....and since it's 'discontinued' it makes it a little more special to me

I do not know why some people just do not buy a CPO car. Buying any brand new car is a crazy waste of money. Let someone else take the hit. I also, never go to the dealer unless my car is under warranty. Instead of buying a brand new S Class maybe get a CPO one. And if you always want the newest car then suck it up and take the hit. I can live without having brand new all the time.

They are in business to make money like all car stealerships. Buy low, sell high. Why this concept would upset you is beyond me...sell the car privately to make the most $$$. If you want convenience, sell it for less $$$ to a car dealer. Simple!

Screw ‘em
Hype - given the low resale value and the incredible vehicle the S class is I’d just keep it. In for a penny, in for a pound type of thing. Just run it until the wheels fall off and enjoy. You have the other cars for fun. Extended warranty if you are worried about long term Reliabilty... just sayin.

So true... we have some very special members who love to talk big hiding behind their keyboards. If they treated people like that in real life I'm sure they would get punched in the nose.
Then again, if there are that big of an a$$hole in person I would never find myself having a conversation with them in the first place.
No bad decisions Hype....just more or less costly ones here.

"Yes, for many folks, CPO is an excellent choice. However, for some, like myself, once you have experienced a brand new car, ordered specifically as you want it, well, IMO, there are not many material things on this earth that can be so enjoyable. Sure, they can be quite expensive, but when you consider what you are getting, compared to so many other items one might purchase today, in many ways, they are a downright bargain. For me, it is my vice of choice. I’ve never smoked, don’t drink to excess, don’t spend lavishly on clothes or entertainment, I wear a Seiko watch and have no great interest in world travel. But, I love brand new cars and I plan on enjoying them as long as I can. Cheers! "
