AMG 20”multispoke - are these things alloy?
I’m making myself nuts over wheel locks. The McGard’s are purportedly OEM - different unit for steel or alloy. I presume AMG would be alloy, right? Thanks for any help.

Non-AMG cars (sport models or sport packages) never have forged AMG wheel but some special-edition non-AMG cars may have them, typically on the higher-end.
AMG models will typically have cast aluminum wheels with forged wheel options during build.
i ordered and received the mcgard yesterday - i'll have put on in the next few days. Car shop mentioned the risk of wheel theft is pretty low - they just steal the car!
i'm doing what i can to go out,get back to my car, and have all 4 wheels.
doing the same for flats - i swapped out the run flats for the continental all seasons.
i think i read somewhere the AMG 20" multispoke are actually forged - doesn't much matter to me - but the wheel locks in general had version A for alloy and version B for steel - not sure of the difference - maybe alloy is softer?
thanks again!

The forged wheels have a plastic cap surrounding the wheel bolts like a faux center lock. They are usually a few pounds lighter and very expensive. Unless you installed them yourself the S550 does not come with forged wheels.

i did actually consider buying 4 sets of mcguard, and maybe putting a different color dot on each one and the matching keys - then 4 per wheel, and one regular lug. however, everywhere i read said install the lock last, and remove first - that tells me the lock is possibly weaker than standard lugs - plus i didn't want the tire shop to hate my guts.
