Lexus will need every bit of data they can possibly find that will put their new LS500 in a good light, as the car is not very special. I drove the new LS and after all the hype that has been going on for like two years since the car was announced, I was ready to be blown away, but that was not the case. It feels just like the last generation LS. The ride is not as nice as in the S Class and you definitely know you are driving a V6 powered car, something I did not feel when I test drove a new S450. They are also using their “F Sport” model in this test, which is reasonably more tricked out than a W222 with the AMG Line option, which is nothing more than body work and wheels. Perhaps using a REAL AMG model, like the S63 would have shown different results.

All that said, who really gives a rat's *** about the tests they did? Anyone here taking their S Class to the track? The tests they did, IMO, are virtually meaningless to 99.9% of S Class or LS drivers. The fact of the matter is that the new Lexus LS is a second class car to the W222 and Lexus knows it. With the horrendously ugly exterior design, they are scrambling to find a way to market their homely beast. I would take a new Genesis G90 over a new LS500 any day of the week and the LS has a $25K Premium over the G90. Lexus dealers worldwide need to get together and do an intervention with the factory design heads and the idiot execs who green lighted the ridiculous Lexus design philosophy currently soiling Lexus showrooms. It really is disgusting.

2019 S63 4Matic+, 2018 E400 Cabrio, wardens car.
Where is the category around most use of plastic in a grill or ugliest front end design on the planet awards. Lexus would win those hands down.

Lol. Well said.

I was thinking about writing something myself along these lines, but you covered it well. The Lexus is ugly, and performance test is not as relevant in this class. It should really be mentioned that there is a better suspension available on this car, the ABC Magic Body Control. Would have been interesting to see those numbers also. As others have mentioned there is also the AMG63. The S-Class alone have more model variants with engines and interiors, than other brands have cars.

Lap times was not on the top of my list when choosing this car, and the total package the S560 offers is incredible, and far above anything else on the marked. I was eagerly awaiting the new Audi A8 for , but for me that was a huge letdown. Others like the interior of the A8, but i hate it.
