VW Group, including Porsche, Audi, etc., says next gen ICE will be its it last
Article
I've been saying for awhile that major auto companies would invest less and less in ICE, and eventually zero.

I saw the VW article, makes sense to me. I agree that lack of a unified charging infrastructure (a gas station is a gas station, proprietary charging is painful) is a concern. I am hoping my next vehicle will be an EV. My longest drive is about 320 miles - San Diego to Las Vegas. Put a unified charging station in Barstow and I'm sold.

The question on the German cars (including the upcoming EQ) is why they reserve a large portion of their battery as a non-used spare.
But if driving dynamics is a priority, I will take that over range.

I haven't followed things all that closely since I won't be in the market in the near term. If that is what is happening (reserving more of the battery) some possible explanations might be that they are just being conservative (which shouldn't be necessary given that there are some very high-mileage Teslas around to learn from), or possibly their battery tech isn't the best, or possibly they have in mind selling future range upgrades.

MB EQC seen charging at a Tesla-specific charger
...Tesla could use some cash, while MB could use a jumpstart in charging infrastructure. It would not be too surprising to see Tesla receive some cash from MB in exchange for access to Tesla charging stations in at least some countries. The cash could be used in part to continue/accelerate charging network buildout.

MB EQC400 review (C&D)
I rather like the wheels in the pic below, but they may not be to everyone's taste:

Porsche Taycan "Turbo" preproduction first drive review
Sounds great!
"The Taycan’s advanced electric powertrain might as well be a warp drive.... a remarkable high-performance high-end GT which can’t wait to rearrange your internal organs. It most certainly has the potential to become a real trendsetter..."

TESLA MODEL 3 VS. BMW 330I VS. GENESIS G70 COMPARISON (MotorTrend)
"Driving feels new and novel again. The way it re-introduces driving enthusiasm to a driving enthusiast is remarkable."...The Tesla Model 3 wins this competition because it has thoroughly rewritten the rules of what a compact sport sedan can be.

It accelerates and I think handles well. No mention of ride quality whereas the G70 got high marks on that, the BMW not so much. From what I have read and talking to a guy in the office that has one, they don't ride very well

Apparently the most recent updates to the Model S’ hardware includes an adaptive air suspension setup vs the passive one they had before. I wonder how much it will help. They’ll probably improve it over time with firmware updates which is great. I wish other manufacturers would do that too.

It's gotten me thinking about a new Model S plus the standard has greater range and a lower price

Of course, it might be awhile before the new tech makes it into the Model 3, especially given Tesla's cashflow problems.
