The "c"

I purchased a 2015 CPO S550 4MATIC last September and love the car.

I have had an issue with the "c" at the end of 4MATIC. I have the car hand washed, but the wash mitt and/or dry towel gets caught under the "c". I have lost one C and I had to replace it. You can't just buy one letter; you have to buy all 6 for around $250.

I had the car washed this morning and the C is barely attached. I really can't blame the detail company, because my mitt gets caught when I wash the car myself.

Anyone have this problem? Anyone have a solution?

Thanks

Debadge it. Or buy the cheap chinese ones on fleabay. Mine are on there good. No problems with them coming off. Sounds like the paint is not properly prepped before applying the badges.

I don't think it has anything to do with the prep before applying the badges. These letters are very easy to catch when washing/drying the car by hand. I have also found myself snagging my washing mit/drying towel when washing/drying by hand.

I've never touched the badges myself yet, but suggest a google or ebay search for "3m auto double sided tape" and reattaching yourself. Old adhesive might be removed with Goo Gone.

I had the same problem. My dealer has replaced it twice under warranty.

Thanks All. I am using a lambs wool mitt. The letter has a rubber foam backing that causes space between the car and the letter. The fibers are being caught in the space, especially on the open corners. I will definitely look for the 3M auto double side tape. The letter was lost the first time.

Yes, I am sure of the price. That is what our local dealer charged me. If have to buy another one, I will look at ebay as suggested.

Thanks, again, for replying.

When I bought my CPO 2013 SL550, the previous owner had badged the car as an SL63, which I immediately removed. I went to my MB dealer and bought the set to rebadge the correct SL550 and it was like $30.00 as well and contained enough letters & numbers to service several different models.

Thanks for the information. If I need to buy the letters again, I will definitely do more price checking.

My badging of the little "AMG" in the grille of my car had almost fallen off. I just happened to notice it was sideways and I snapped it back in. Next time I will glue it in for extra security.
