I'm thinking about doing a chrome delete on my white s550. I spoke with a couple different shops around town, and i am getting conflicted info on whether I should use wrap or paint.. has anyone done this? what materials did you use? please post pics

No offense, but I believe you will find more on this subject in the C Class forums. Most W222 drivers don’t fool with the looks of these elegant cars.

Please post pics of your car as it is now... then post a pic of a car as you're wanting it to look like.
paint will never adhere right and will eventually chip and also make the car look ****ty. Vinyl wrapping will stick fairly well and could be removed when and if you choose to leaving it back to stock.

I've found that anytime someone starts with "no offense, but..." it usually is followed by an offensive comment. Interesting, as this forum, specifically in the W222 section, has endless threads of various modifications, customization, and discussion on the way folks buy with specific options in mind.
I would agree that most w222 drivers "dont fool" as you put it, with these cars.... however at the end of the day.. its just a car. dont take yourself so serious. I've been fortunate to own a C, an S, a CL, 2 745's, a 750, a Gallardo, 6 series, H2, Escalades, and many more. The cars i've owned don't define who I am. So If deleting chrome is not your thing, thats fine, you're entitled to your opinion... however your comment implies that by blacking out the chrome or by doing any modification for that matter, i'm being tasteless or ghetto... Besides, What did a C Class driver ever do to you?? Didn't want to make this a rant, but your comment just came off as pretentious and insulting. It didn't sit right with me.
Find the best shop closest to you - I went with paint but a solid vinyl installer will look just as good on *most* pieces. If you’re going to truly delete every bit of chrome, I’d do paint.
My car is Stream’s kryptonite - AMG, black, some chrome delete, 21 wheels and a panoramic roof with no spare tire

You need to park it in front of Streamliners house...

I was thinking about painting grill, handles, front gills, exhaust tips and emblems... wrap window trim, roof and antenna to match pano, rear strip on trunk

please do share a pic of that kryptonite!
I've been considering ordering white myself, and doing some selective blackening, but not as much as you are planning. I'll probably not touch the grille, as I think that in some lighting conditions / angles the front of the car will look a bit like it has one huge black hole. The roof I'm not sure; I have heard of potential issues...one fellow's installer cut a roof seal while cutting the vinyl. Another person was told that wrapping would require removing the antenna first, which has to be done from the underside, which means removing and replacing the headliner...and sometimes the re-installation of the headliner won't be perfect. On the handles, I suggest first finding out, if you haven't already, whether extra paint might interfere with the touch-to-close function. Instead of painting handles, I am thinking of buying and wrapping the optional door handle inserts, and attaching each insert in a way that is removable in case I don't like the resulting look, or am preparing for resale:

This is correct. I'll try to see if I can find some pictures of W222s that I've done the chrome trim on and will post the pictures if I can find them for you guys.
sh00t didnt realize don is near u in cali! have him do it! Ps dont *** w the grill, you can get a blk plastic replacement for like 250 that will bolt right on and wont chip. Blk rims im not a fan of tbh...they do make blk reps in glosssblk that will prb cost what youll pay to paint yours.

I would pass on the antenna and roof if If wrapping the antenna requires removing it. I suspect wrapping or painting the chrom piece of the handle will not effect the touch to close function... wondering if anyone on this forum experience this?

Removing and replacing, generally; but there is another way that I read someone post about...the installer can leave the antenna in place during installation, and cut a slit in the vinyl piece on the roof, in front of the antenna...this would be visible on the finished roof, if one looked closely.

Vinyl wrapping over the door handles should not affect it. As far as I know, the sensor is on the side of the handle anyways and not where the chrome piece is. Not sure, but I wrap the top of the door's chrome all the time without any issues.

Vinyl wrapped my grille and window trim . Very durable and made it through the winter .
I ended up completing the chrome delete:
Wrapped the grill, vents, handles, and window trim.
Painted the emblems
Powder coated the stock AMG wheels
Painted Calipers Red with white Logo
I am very happy happy with the way it turned out, and it was completed by a local shop in just 1 day.
