Here is what it’ll look like after you remove the front grille, but I am not sure I understand your question because if the flap on the front grille is not opening, your front camera will not work. The grille flap will need to be opened for the front camera to work?
Thank you! basically the camera turns on and you can see some light peeking through the holes but the flap is not opening.
Is there another guide on taking off the grill?
I just installed a 2018 S63 grille I sold to my coworker’s 2016 S63 and had to remove the entire front grille and the front camera to put on the new grille. If the front grille opening for the front camer is not opening, most likely the guided rail that guilds the front camer slot to open is damaged ( made out of plastic ) and if that happens, you will need to replace the grille because the guided rail is a molded 1 piece into the grille.
If your interested in this upgrade, please PM me. Thanks.
There are 4 ( 1 on each side and 2 in the middle ) bolts on top of the grille circled in red, remove the 4 bolts and it’ll loosen the grille top and then you lightly pulled on the bottom of the grille where it meets the bumper, but don’t pull too hard as there are 2 hardnesses that is attached from the grille to the front camera and your night vision camera to the car. Unplug those 2 hardnesses will completely remove the grille from the car. Once that is done, you can lightly push the slot ( door ) from the inside of the grille to see how the front camera slot/door is pushed out and see what is wrong. Hope this helps. PS, my S63 has the night vision camera so I think if your car doesn’t, it should only have 1 hardness to unplug. Good luck.
My 2018 S560 camera door opens by itself half way through the car wash - I have had it repaired ($300+) twice - I took a video of it mysteriously opening mid way through the car wash - with the car still in neutral being pulled through by the chain - the dealer is trying to figure out why this happens

any clue on how to reinstall the camera into the rails? Changed mine but does not seem to fit right on the rails. It tries to open but leaves the camera behind

Any instructions on how to install the night vision camera?
Greetings. In order to reinstall the front camera, you will need to physically open the front camera flap and hold it open on the front grille while you install the camera from the back of the grille. If the camera sits perfectly on its seat and you can screw in the 2 screws securely, then you should be good to go. As for night vision, it’s a hardness that you disconnect from the back of the grille and then reconnect once your ready to reinstall.

I have a 2020 S560 with the 360 camera. I went through a car wash, and now my front camera is completely dark. I am guessing, based on some of these posts, that there is a flap in front which exposes the camera and perhaps that's not opening (?) Could the car wash have damaged the flap? Before I go to the dealer and get hit with a big repair bill, I wanted to understand the scope of the problem. I have not worked on a car in 40 years, when things were simpler, so I depend on the repair services. Is it an expensive repair to replace the flap? Any thoughts/suggestions?

2020 has 3 cameras – each rear view mirror and 1 at rear factory warranty should cover repair/replacement.

When going through a car wash just prior to being directed by the attendant to pull forward, I turn off the Parktronic sensors and I also go through the sequence of putting the car in R to make the cameras come on, then I place it in P to make the cameras turn off as seen by the fact no images are on the screen. I am then confident to put it back in D, drive forward, then lightly put it in N. There is probably a better way to do this but it works for me.

Thanks for the responses! The dealership did indeed replace the flap - covered by the warranty. But is there a way to just turn the cameras off so I don't have this problem again in a carwash? I can't imagine I am the only one with this issue.
Relatedly, can I turn of all sensors while in the car wash so I don't have to hear all the beeping?
I don’t believe there is α way to turn off the front view camera when going to the car wash, but usually Mercedes dealers that offer complimentary car wash will also offer hand wash “upon request” because high end Mercedes that sits lower than usual Mercedes like the AMG GTs or Mercedes that is lowered can not clear the car wash rails because it sits lower and can only be washed by hand. I always request hand wash at the dealer and do not pay for regular car washes outside of the dealership.

Press the Parktronic button to turn the sensors off in order not to hear the beeping. Just don't to forget to turn them back on after your car wash is over.
