Trying to get info on what options are best!
Greetings all,
I will be in the market for a 2015 S550 in the next few months. I'm researching now about the options that are more important to have than others. I found this options sheet for a 2014 from a local dealership. Can some of you elaborate what I should be looking for to get the optimum package(s). Thanks much!

I wrote an article about this before. I have a Maybach that has just about all the options. If I were to look for an S class to order and I wanted to spend the least $$ this is what I would suggest.
If it is an option the magic body control is wonderful (seen it as an option on the s450)
the Burmeister 3D sound system is to die for and price be dammed.
All the auto driving aids are wonderful
Finally I would opt for the front massaging seats but its not a deal breaker. All the other options are nice and all but I could live without them.

Warmth and comfort package for me. Heated armrests are sweet but more importantly it gives fully adjustable seats in the rear. Burmester 3D is definitely insane and worth looking for. Also, Nappa leather, or any of the upgraded interior options. Finally, Sport package is a MUST.

Id say that car you have posted has the most important ones.
for me 1 its amg sport package.
exclusive nappa.or any interior upgraded package.
warmth and comfort especially for colder climates.
driver aid package.
would love the upgraded stereo but its just very rare to find it, tht said the burmeister sounds great.

https://mbworld.org/forums/new-s-cla...w-s-class.html that is the article I wrote if I were to order a new S class for the least amount of money having driven one that has nearly all the options for about 60,000 miles....
I might also suggest you look at a year old Maybach or other S class. You can sometimes find the for the price of a s550 new......... Just a thought.

Magic Carpet Ride. If you can find it. I was quite skeptical when I bought my car. I figured it's a gimmicky option but it's quite the opposite. Ive own three other S classes. ( 2x W221 and my current W222 ) What a difference. It keeps the car flat during cornering and in windy conditions. Well worth it if you can find a car with that option.

Can add to that about Magic Body Control. We have a speed bump near our house. If you go over it with our Mercedes AMG GTC or Ford Van and previous Corvettes you know you went over the speed bump. If you go over the speed bump in the Maybach with SPORT mode on it is the same as the the for mentioned vehicles but if its in touring mode the car floats over the speed bump virtually undetected.

In colder climates, along with the warmth and comfort package, I highly recommend a heated windshield! No more scraping, it melts the whole windshield pretty quickly! As to the sport package, it seems that everyone has it. The way I look at it, the sport package gives you the AMG front, and the non sport package gives you the Maybach front, totally up to you on what look you want.

When buying used I would go for a fully loaded model since previously expensive options can be had for Pennies on the Dollar. It's often interesting of how little the final price varies. You might just have to be patient. Also when it comes to options, your personal situation will matter. Will the rear seats be used? Need rear seat entertainment? Need AWD? What climate do you live in?

Unless something has changed you cannot get the magic body control and all wheel drive together.

Easy research
All wheel drive is Airmatic only. MBC is Rear wheel drive only as Katie22 stated...
Let's assume you go for a well optioned car. Here are my priorities:
1. Exclusive Nappa interior. Same as Designo & Semi Aniline interiors, they are full leather interiors. All surfaces are covered with nappa leather as well (dashboard, door panels). This option gives you also Alcantara headliner and the diamond stitching on seats and dashboard fascia. Anything without the that gives you pleather (MB-Tex) on non-seat/armrest areas. Since you spend most of the time in the car, might as well get the full treatment.
2. MBC if RWD, otherwise Airmatic is fine.
3. Sport package. Enhances the look of the car IMO. Will add virtually no costs is used; otherwise $5-6k when new. Prefer the look with 20" wheels
4. Distronic Plus
5. Heat & Warmth (we live in MN)
6. 3D Burmester
6. Rear seat packages. Even if not used, it given the car much nicer look (more contoured seats, better headrests, better center armrest, chauffeur package and the ambient light layout is much nicer around the center rear storage)
7. Surround camera (used to be an option). Can save money on bumper repairs
8. Head-up display

Mainly 2015 or 2014 S550. Prefer CPO with approximately 32,000 thru 45,000 miles on the odo. Colors Palladium Silver, Verde Brook Metallic [Green] or lastly Black. Would like to have Rear Seating adjustments as I do a lot of highway driving and I do like sitting in the rear seats at times when taking a break from driving. Prefer 19" wheels instead of 20". Looking to spend approximately $50,000 - $57,000. Any information on the best place for searching? Thanks.

I ended up getting all options on my s63 except the heated windshield ( bad experience with Range Rovers, because every time headlights hit the window it was blurry because of the lines. Not sure if MB is similar but opted out) and didn’t get ceramic brakes. One of my favorite options which I thought was a gimmick at first is the magic sky control. It’s truly amazing. I love keeping the shade open and not have the sun beating down on you. To me it is highly worth it and couldn’t imagine not having it. The back seat pckage I don’t really use but like the look better. Night vision is cool because it shows you pedestrians which honestly I didn’t see at first so it’s helped me on dark nights. All Saftey feartures are worth it to me.

When me and my wife are on the highway driving and we stop at a rest stop, many times we will eat our food in the back seat of the car since i'm always the driver I can relax without the steering wheel being in my lap. Try it sometimes, you'll probably enjoy your Benz even more!
