Replacing Radar Cover

Hi all. In 60,000 miles had two unexpected repairs. First was idler pulley that I replaced myself. Second is the radar sensor cover. The chrome lines started to wrinkle as you can see in the pictures. I looked up the grill removal in the service manual and had it out in about 10 min.

Here is some pics. The only one missing is a new cover because I have to go pick it up on a min..

Katie

Nice work. My grill has this one tiny little bubble in it.. I'm not going to mess with it until it gets worse just because the grill is pricey.. It was easy to pull out? Just the top two screws?

There are four screws two have a plastic pop off cover on them. All accessed from top.

After the four screws are removed you must gently pull firmly on the grill at the top out from the front of the car. It will come out about an inch. Thereafter you will see a tab in there on each side of the top this is gently pushed down by a screwdriver. Grill will come out more at top. This would be the time to unhook the two connector wires if you have them.

Next you do the same pulling out at the bottom of the grill. It comes out about an inch and then there are two retaining tabs you push with a long screwdriver.

After grill is out center piece is removed with a screwdriver gently prying on four retainers from the back side of the grill.

Finished job

Here is the finished new cover on the car. It was not cheap being $319.00 but such is life. For some reason or another the colors dont match in the picture but in real life its all good.

Was that the cost of the cover? Wow!!! Was it a cosmetic issue or were you having issues with the system

Just cosmetic. We like to tAke the car to car shows so we try to keep it nice. If I could have fixed it I would have but could not. The corer was around 300 dollars.

I wish I could tell you but it’s been so long ago that I can’t remember. Actually I can guess after further thought. One wire was for the camera video feed and the other wire was for the camera cover accuator.

You can order just the parts you need. Just found out the Chrome Bezel can be ordered without purchasing the entire grill. I have 2 issues, bubbling Chrome and Clear comming off Radar Cover. Rest of grill is fine.
