PPF xpel ultimate on W222

Has anyone had PPF professionally installed on their W222, considering at the moment here myself. I live outside the city and some roads I drive on can have loose grit so I'm thinking its time to do it.

From their website looks like they have precut kits for the W222:

Thinking about full front protection including headlights and front grill if that’s possible.

Any feedback much appreciated.

Like you I drive some graveled back roads that I hate but am forced to drive due to location and I have had three low sitting cars Xpel applied. The reason I do this is that my first “extra” car was a BMW Z3 that after 3 years looked like it had the measles with dozens of chips on the paint all over the front end. If you are keeping a car for a extended time period the Xpel in my opinion is well worth the cost. It does “self heal” with smaller rock hits to the paint.

I've used Xpel on past cars as well. In additional to its "self-healing" properties, it's much cheaper to replace the film than to have a hood repainted if you get small chips or dings.

Be sure you find someone that has a excellent track record to install as it is more of a art to apply. Also be sure they perfectly clean the paint before installation. Imperfections underneath will show.

I have had Xpel installed on both our 2018 S560 and 2017 SL550; full hood, front fenders AND full length rocker panels. Really recommend adding the rocker panels on any installation. The self healing feature is wonderful.

My preference for solid white paint as a color (not metallic) is due to 1) avoidance of cabin heat in southern cali and 2) Ease of repairing paint chips with a solid white color. My DIY routine maintenance on front bumper and hood chips keeps the car looking new. I hate hate hate metallic paint. Did I say I hate metallic paint? There's nothing better than the reflective gleam of a well detailed car off of solid nonmetallic paint.

I'd only use a clear bra if I had a paint that made it difficult to blend paint chips.

I guess one thing to consider when thinking of expensive wraps & coatings, is how long you will have your car, especially if you are leasing. When it comes to my daily driver, currently a 2018 S560 Sedan, I know that I will be turning the car in at the end of the 36 month lease, so I’m not going to go that extra mile protecting it. I take very good care of my cars, but I’m not going to spend extra for a wrap or coating.

Boy, I am right there with you about solid colors vs metallics. To me, the most beautiful colors on cars are solid, which is one reason I like Porsche so much, even though I have not had one in years. I saw a new, paint-to-sample, solid green 911 Coupe the other day that was so gorgeous, it just about brought tears to my eyes! Colors like Guards Red, Speed Yellow, Signal Orange, Irish Green, Viper Green, Chalk, Aubergine, etc. were/are all magnificent. Alas, MB has pretty much relegated solid color fans to only Polar White & plain Black on most of their better cars, with the lovely Jupiter Red showing up now and then. Why they can’t bring back Maple Yellow, Signal Red, English Red, Light Ivory, Pastel lue, etc. is just beyond me. I have a new SL450 incoming in Polar White. Wanted red, but they don’t offer it anymore. Can you imagine? No bright, solid red on a two seat convertible? Oh well.
