Headlight message
Good afternoon,
Has anyone ever received the “adaptive headlights inoperable” and check right low beam message before? When I checked my car, the right low beam is working. The right high beam seems to not be working. I stopped by one place today and they told me it would be about $300 part and labor to change because they have to take off number, and some other things.
so then, i call my independent mechanic, and he told me to bring in to see what is causing the message and that he does not see any separate parts available for me vehicle and that the entire headlight assembly would have to be replaced.
so i I am just asking if anyone else ever had this issue. For the cost of a headlight assembly, i’ll Just do without adaptive headlights operating.
any info is greatly appreciated. I will be taking to me service guy in the morning and see what they say. Will update in case the info finds itself useful for anyone else.
THX

Yeah. I’m taking it in tmo. I do notice that one of my low beam lights on passenger side is not coming on. When I start the car, all the bulbs move up and down and side to side like they are supposed to but, one bulb light does not come on. I am just hoping it won’t require an entire new headlight assembly. Those things cost a couple grand,, :-(
Have you tried unplugging the headlight, waiting 10 minutes and then plugging it back in yet? That might be all it needs. Push the lock on the clip forward (or back can't remember which) to release it and then pull the plug straight out.

Update
Took car to my service guy. He ran the diagnostic and got a short to ground fault. So he is first going to try and replace the voltage regulator for the headlight. He said if that doesn’t work, i will have to get new headlight assembly. At a cost of 3k. The voltage module is 350. I hope that’s what shorted out.

Will do. I didn't have the fix done. But are you saying that fix they do is not good?

Update 2
My service guy called today, and said after taking it apart, he believes it is the voltage module (ballast) because there was a lot of water and some rust. He is changing it out, and also sealing it with some silicone to help with keeping water out of it. He also stated there is a blower/dryer (i forget the name), that is also there that is suppose to assist with drying water that he will be changing out as well. All said and done, it will cost me about $600 to repair. Majority of it is labor cost. (Much better than a 3k headlamp assembly)
Its not a blower, its a moisture bag....thats not designed to be there. Once its filled the water builds up and shorts out the ballast. Thats what happened to yours. You should tell them its benzs prblm. Its a known issue.

Update 2
Well my mechanic called and said after putting in New module and programming it, it's not giving any faults but my one low beam light still is not coming on. They are going to reprogram again and see. If not they are saying the headlight needs changing too. Bummer.
Are the bulbs even changeable being leds? I thought there was only one bulb anyway that did both high and low beam.

From what I gather you can't replace lights. There are 2 lights on each headlight that lights up for both low beam and high beam.one of my lights on the passenger side doesn't light up for either.
2015 headlight does has an integrated fan. Anyway, before replacing any additional parts suggest shop update camera software per attached bulletin. May or may not resolve your particular matter nevertheless, worth trying before proceeding.

Thanks will do. On another note I just got call from the shop. They finished the programming and all is well now. I go to pick car up in a couple hours.
If this is true then that sucks big time. My drivers side just went out. This is the second issue I have had with these LED headlights. They have already been changed once $4k each by dealer and also the control module. I can’t believe you can not replace led lights if they go out. can some pls confirm if we REALLY have to take it to the stealership when an LED goes out?

It seems to be a defect from factory how these headlights are made and that they get condensation build up in the lens.
