Bent Rim and lug nuts
I hit a pot-hole two months ago that completely blew out the sidewall on my 19" run-flat tire. The car was towed to my local dealer and replaced with a new 19" run-flat tire that I payed for out of pocket. I noticed after that after the I got the car back there was a slight vibration so I had the dealer take another look. They informed me that 2 of my rims were bent and they could fix them for $250/rim. I decided to look around and found a very reputable indy that could do it for half that price.
When I brought the car in, he told me that he didn't feel comfortable removing the tire because the last person who removed it used a regular 17MM impact and slightly rounded out our concave bolts that come with the car. He has the special socket, but he said once these start rounding, they will get worse and could possibly strip. He said he's been down this road before and rather not do it again.
Does anyone know the lug bolts used on this car and were I can get at least 10 so he could just replace them? He also mentioned that I could pick up the regular hex shaped from the W221 and not have to worry about this problem again.

$250/wheel to fix a bent rim is robbery. My dealer charges $125, and takes them to a guy who charges $80. Hopefully you found someone who specializes in wheel repair. I have no idea about lugnuts, and would probably look to ebay, mbparts online, or the dealer. It looks like the list price is $10 each, and sell for $7.50. At those prices I might just go to the dealer parts counter and order them. Are the star shaped or 6 sided?

I believe they are 28mm and you can get all 20 off ebay in the 30 range. Ive changed both my s550's over to 17mm hex after one of those stupid caps broke off mine. Very poor design.

Agreed, $250 is excessive.
I'm trying to find the hex replacement on eBay but nothing is matching up with the image. The ones on the car have a shoulder and the ones on eBay are threaded all the way up.

I know I am beating a dead horse here, but if each and every one of us does not give MB an earful on this subject, EVERY time we interact with them, one day, someone here is going to find out for themselves, how truly horrible not having a spare can be. Run flat tires can be SHREDDED by road hazards. Just sayin.

Just think if you hit this pothole, or some other road hazard, as you were on a family vacation, in the middle of Yellowstone National Park. IF, your $100K+ luxury car was properly equipped from the factory with a jack, tool kit & spare—as most cars on the planet have been so equipped for over 100 years now—you would have pulled to the side of the road, put out your warning triangles, changed the wheel and been on your way. Unfortunately, for all W222 drivers, the brilliant minds at the MB factory, who have designed our incredibly safe cars, have decided that this very ancient, simple and MOST BASIC safety feature, of having a spare, is no longer needed. I truly believe they have their collective heads up their ***.

I couldn't agree any more! Luckily I was about 6 miles from home and my wife was able to pick up both me and my son from a parking lot where I pulled over. The circumstances of the whole situation really did not sit well with me. I ended up having to wait almost an hour for the tow truck to come and because it was late afternoon on a Saturday the service department was closed so I couldn't get the tire replaced until Monday morning. Also, what good is a run-flat if they are still susceptible to being blown out? I might as well get better All Season non run-flats and pack a spare with a jack. At least the car will ride better with less road noise.
We live in NY and do day trips to Boston pretty frequently for my daughter to see her doctors. One of the reasons I purchased this car is because I wanted a comfortable cruiser to fit the kids for these trips outside of our large SUV. After that flat, I'm very hesitant to take the MB as we do not want to get stuck 4 hours away from home. I really hate that I have to think this way and contemplate purchasing a small spare to put in the car when we do drive up. That's not what I expected from such a high end automobile.

I call them pizza cutters, you see how the wheel actually poked thru the sidewall? Ive run basically every kind of wheel out there and never saw anything like it before. On my 221 s550 the 1st week I had the car i hit a pothole and the rim cut the same part of the tire..... guess what they are designed to do? sell you more tires. Talk to anyone thats never had a benz before and theyll tell you the same thing.. never had a blowout like this... Mercedes came up with a clever way to sell you 100 tires in the time you own the car.

Ha. everyone is correct, it does say MOE. I was in the office when I wrote the reply and I thought it was EMT. The tires are Continental ProContact SSR’s. It clearly says MOE on the tire.
