Front windshield chips and cracks - thoughts?

Front windshield chips and cracks - thoughts?

Has anyone noticed that the front windshield on W222 gets rock chips soooooo quickly compared to other cars? I don't drive on highway that much but I see lots of chips more even more than 15 years old lexus! The windshield was replaced in 2017, and again in less than 2 years same problem and rock chips came back soooooo quickly

any thoughts?

I really couldn't believe it when it happened again! I can't believe that MBenz couldn't handle such poor glass quality issue.... I thought something wrong with the routes I take going to work or my area, but apparently this is something that all others are seeing !? I see lot's of similar discussions everywhere online...
Safelite said they can replace it for $550 but they charge another $300 to calibrate sensors....

Hadn't had a broken windscreen for the first 25 years of driving then bam..stone chip right between the eyes that ended up cracking a bit. Had it replaced the next day(MB 94 E500). Within 4-5 miles with the new windscreen in play...bam ! again, right between the eyes

Ins co. loved me. Have had a few more cracked windscreens on various vehicles since..not just on the MB's. T

I believe at least 2 things are contributing to windshield cracks. Around here you can drive in traffic and look at others with cracked windshields, like half of the cars it seems.
1. When roads are sanded for ice they are using a courser sand/gravel grit. Far cheaper than actually sifting the gravel properly like they used to.
2. less maintenance on roads ie sweeping etc

Boils down to saving money for higher salaries?
