@Streamliner can you weigh-in here? Am also interested to know the differences comfort wise when MBC is in-active.
I will say that what MBC (Magic Body Control) really is, is an ABC (Active Body Control) system with the addition of the road scanning camera feature. My 2013 S550 sedan had ABC and it had magnificent ride quality as well. My 2004 SL500 came standard with ABC and the ride quality was simply amazing for a 2-seat, luxury convertible. My current 2019 SL450 was ordered with ABC and the ride quality never ceases to amaze me.
The ABC & MBC suspension systems were truly spectacular, in my humble opinion. The new EABC in my 2022 S580 does offer great handling like ABC/MBC, but the ride quality is not in the same league as with those earlier systems.

My feeling is that MB wanted a suspension upgrade that would work with 4-Matic. Why MBC wouldn’t, is way above my pay grade. So, they came up with EABC. I’m not sure if it is the combination of the 4-Matic, or in my case, the combination of 4-Matic and Rear Axle Steering with EABC, but the ride quality just isn’t ready for prime time. At lower speeds, say under 50mph, I’d go so far as to say the ride quality SUCKS! And, I’ve got 19’s & non-run flat tires.
