Wheels

I have a 2018 S560 with 20 in AMG wheels. Great looking wheels but I want a quieter cabin. So I want to go to an 18. Problem according to Dealer is that the front to rear wheels are staggered. 8.5 in in front and 9.5 in rear. The parts guy at MB dealer says that the 18 in wheels are all 18x8,5. Is that right?

The aftermarket has a billion wheels where you can get any wheel diameter and any wheel width and any offset you want and any spoke configuration you like.

I did this last year and went with 19" wheels because tire selection is much better in 19" than in 18" in comfort and touring categories.

Yes the smaller wheels are not staggered and that is NOT a problem.

I am running 'square' ... 19 x 8.5 all around on Pirelli P7 Cinturato tires. Great tires, give a wonderful luxury car ride and now I just leave the suspension set on 'sport' 100% of the time. Plus, I can rotate the tires so they last longer.

Be creative with tire and wheel selection and you can really make the car what you want it to be.

I had a CL550 and got tired of bent rims. broken rims, and bought used Mercedes '18" rims/tires. Car rode tons better as far as road noise and never had a bent rim on them (note" only had that combination for little under a year).

Usuallu one can got google Discount Tire and input your car/year/ style and it will show you the combinations your car could have been equiped with from the factory.

Discount Tire as in_" Discount Tire" Company. Not a search for tires that are dicounted here there and everywhere joints.

I'm not eure is you could have gotten 18" rims for a S560. Too lazy to look right now.

I drive like an old man because I am one. Yet, in spite of this in two years I've had to have "bent rims" straighten four times. I live in Atlanta and generally speaking the roards are not bad. My wheels are 20" and look very stout and they are rare. Used, they sell for 750 a pop,15 spoke in groups of three. So I have tywo questions, where do you live and which 19" wheels did you end up with ? Thanks because this driving me crazy.

Will 18s fit over the AMG sport package cars? Thought there may have been an issue w calipers unless calipers are same?

Only asking as once I toggle tire rack for the AMG sport package, the 18s fall off the list and am left w 19/20.

Jay04SL, that's a great question. I saw this debated regularly in the past, not sure if anyone's actually tried it ...
