S550 CPO?
Hey guys im new to owning Mercedes Benz W222. Planning on purchasing one asap. Looking into a 2016 or 2017 S550 CPO Certified.
Does used CPO Certified covers All electrical and suspension components as if i was to lease a 2019 S Class? Im looking to purchase a extended two year with it. Help me out, thanks!

MB factory warranty is excellent. Extended length warranty that you buy post warranty is questionable regarding value and there are several differing opinions on the value of these warranties. On my MY2015 with 38K miles, mine has been trouble free and I decided when my Merc warranty ran out that I would simply run without coverage. So far I am glad as I have saved around 4K on the cost of an ELW that would be expiring in around 6 months. The W222 seems to be very well sorted by MY2015, and I have not heard a ton of issues on these boards.

I think they consider shocks wearable. I saw that they don’t cover them. Hope I’m wrong I have. CPO that ends in DEC with extended warranty till 2021 , I would make sure your rotors are in good shape they are not covered. But MY2014 s63 has zero issues with 40 k miles.

Thanks for reply guys! Say if i was to buy a 2015 with 56k miles CPO certified. Dealership say i can purchase two more years extra of warranty and it will be unlimited miles for everything except wear parts like brake or rotors. Is air bags covered with the warranty or will that be on me?

It’s not the same as the original warranty. Some things are not covered under CPO. If your door hinges fail and start making an annoying creaking sound as you open and close the door, it’s not covered under CPO and you’ll be paying a body shop to paint and replace the hinge mechanisms. This would be covered under the original manufacturers warranty or an extension of that. I can’t imagine needing service on air bags unless they deploy. If they deploy, they would not be covered.
It’s a fine line between getting lucky with a low mileage CPO car with 30K miles (great great!) or getting one at 40K or 50K miles where more wear items have been replaced for you and you get brand spanking new rotors and brakes. But if you think about the cost of wear, I’d still want the lower mileage car. A set of rotors for the S550 runs 600 to 800 bucks depending on where you buy them (plus labor). The rotor is a much bigger deal with a S63 as a set runs 2500 bucks for that gargantuan stopping power.
The W222 S550 is one reliable luxury car. I would skip an extended warranty. Spend it on maintaining your car. If you know how to do basic maintenance yourself (oil change, brake bleed, change brake pads/rotors, tranny and differential fluid, spark plugs, etc), you save a LOT of money.

If you get a CPO with extended warranty you need to document the service that you do or have them do service. I paid 500 for 40 k mile service at MB dealer. They can deny your warranty if something fails and you did not have proof of service. I thought that was kinda of cheap compared to service agreement for 2500 which is a rip. So if you get one make sure service was done. So your warranty is valid. I would hunt for one in 30 k range and pay a lil more if you plan on keeping it. Less chance of having any issues on wearables Good luck on your hunt. The fun part of getting one.

Airbags or Air Shocks? Airbags either work or they don't, no way to test them. Assume you are asking about air shocks. I know there is a lot of chatter about the airmatic system on these cars but I think it is blown out of proportion a bit. Parts in general are very reasonable for this car if you can do basic wrenching yourself. I did my brakes, front and rear with new high performance rotors and ceramic pads with all the parts and fluids for around 700 bucks and 3-4 hours of work. I would not hesitate to buy a 40-50K MY2015 as long as you can get the service history, CPO is even better as the dealer typically only pics the best of the best to refurbish, the rest go off to the auction. Pricing for a nice CPO MY2015 example should be sub 50K depending on options.

Extended and CPO are different warranties and are not the same as the factory warranty. They have a lot more exclusions. For instance they won't cover cosmetic items like if there's a rip in the seat but that would be covered under the factory warranty. They're also slightly different, but you'd have to read the warranty to see what's actually covered. Still they cover many things such as the airmatic.

, most
Steering Linkage Not covered under EXT... $680-
Handle Back Light, Not Covered... Dealer wants $270- rear door led bulb..
Sill Light Driver side, Not covered Dealer wants $385-
Aux Start stop battery... Not Covered...
Air Intake Snorkel split open... Not Covered...
Still waiting to go back and fight them on the rear axle buzz / hum around 56 to 63 mph, they hear the noise and said normal.... If someone can find the link on the repair that someone had done on this item, it would be helpful, will be going in for service in 2 weeks.
They charge a diagnostic fee $179- for any item they look at.
My last call to schedule this service, the girl made me feel like I was a bother to her.... She immediately apologized, in the end its not her fault. They punch in the part, if the computer states its under Extended, its covered. If not, its not....
Now, MB will allow 1 Exception Complaint. I highly recommend that you do not use up this wish on something simple. So, If the dealer will not help you, call MB Corporate, they will usually give you a one time allowance, remember, its one time.... So if they fix the rear door handle light, my wish is gone.... They will register your vin and that they did a good will... that's it you used up your one good will. So, Save it for something that will cost you....
