Auxiliary battery malfunction

I had the following message on the dash. The dealer said I need to replace the auxiliary battery and charged $513 for this replacement. Is this a fair price for this service?

Too much money......I had both batteries replaced. AUX battery was $340 installed and main battery was $720 installed. I thought both of these too high since I could easily replace the main battery through local auto stores. The aux battery is harder to find and not generic.

The auto start on-off that tries to save gas definitely drains batteries quickly. I always turn it off. And battery reconditioners like CTEK help and can bring a dead battery back to life.

They're available for less than $150. Installation isn't very hard.

Watranty

Due to the cpo warranty I elected to let the dealer do the repair, but I could have save a bunch by buying the $140 battery at the dealer and done the install in a couple hours. It seems the battery is vin specific and is dealer only. It is located up under the dash on the passenger side requiring removal of the passenger kick plate.

Has anyone had this replaced by an Indy shop and knows what they charged?

W222 has it in the trunk, under the panel, not under the passenger dash. Other models have it there. Something sounds amiss.
