Lane Keeping Assist Sensors

What exactly is the steering wheel sensing in order to know whether or not you are holding the steering wheel while using distronic and lane departure/steering assist features? Finger warmth? pressure?, torque/weight upon the steering wheel? Would wearing soft gloves not be sensed by the wheel?

Any degree of movement, even 1mm. Has absolutely nothing to do with touch. Its Movement or resistance of movement.
