I had the issue of my fragrance bottle sliding across my glovebox all the time. I checked the other day and noticed the round disk sticking to the magnet where the bottle goes. Apparently the double sided tape used to stick that disk to the bottle doesn't last for the long term. So I scraped the tape off the bottle and used a dab of JB Weld to glue the disc back to the bottle. Now it works like a charm and it's almost impossible that it will come undone again.
The original scent, Freeside Mood wasn't my favorite, so I cracked open the jar and filled it with Urban Naturals brand "warm vanilla amber" reed diffuser oil, which IMO smells great. There are several scents available on Amazon for $15, so you can test different scents and see which ones you prefer for way less than the cost of one refill from MB and switch out the scent whenever you feel like. The bottle of oil will last several years and won't evaporate like colognes.

I’ve been using this one from Amazon for 3 months now. Works like a charm a smell really really really great, even better than the original one. I liked it so much that I ordered 2 extra bottles to keep on the side in case the seller goes away or the product isn’t available. I drive my car daily, high scent setting all the time, and after 3 months it there is still 40% of it in the vehicle bottle, and each can of the original product is enough for a least 4 re-fill. So basically, 1 can should be good for >1 year or 4 refills or more.

I ordered some diffuser oil from Tommy Bahama. My car now smells like a Tommy Bahama store when I start it up. I actually like the smell.

This was one of the most and first recommended options when I posted a thread on the subject. I ordered one but the issue exactly what you hinted, that the vehicle smelled somewhat like the Tommy Bahama clothing store; which really smell great lol; but I needed is something closer to a CAR smell than a store or personal perfume. They Maybach MB original bottle was recommended also by a few in other posts claiming is smells great. Found it through a 3rd party seller for a fraction of the price using crypto payment. So immediately got it but found it to smell too strong even at low setting. The best smell in my view remains the original one that comes in the W222 or the one I listed above; they smell like a car perfume while also not too overwhelming.

I refill mine with https://www.diptyqueparis.com/en_us/...-diffuser.html. It's more expensive than Mercedes scents but it reminds me of vacation and/or a spa during traffic jams so worth each evaporated dollar.

Ditto here, I've been using the same Leather sent for 3 years now...no problems, smells great. Just keep the bottle clean between fill-ups

Typical Dealer Response?
I too don’t smell anything from my fragrance system, even on high. The dealer says it’s working properly, but I don’t think so. Any ideas on how to get the dealer to check the tube behind the glovebox under warranty?

There is a small tube from the Scent unit to the right center of the dash vent. If that is broken or plugged, no smell. Also I found on mine that I had lost the small metal disc on the bottom of the scent jar. When I replaced it with a glued-on washer it worked again. I suspect that the output holes on the top of the jar were too far from the pickup without it.

Does the scent stay in the cabin? Does the whole car start smelling like whatever is in the bottle? I ask because I'd like to try it when I am driving alone, but my husband is sensitive to perfume.

Picking up on this topic, I have the same issue so will be looking in to it.
One question is that when you put the bottle in place it holds with the magnet fine, but there is a few mm gap between the top of the bottle and the holder/seal? You can push up on the internals of the holder and feel the seal/spring. I would assume that when you engage the fragrance setting the seal will move down and push the tabs/spring thus releasing the fragrance from the bottle? Can anyone confirm what is supposed to happen mechanically with the holder as at the moment my bottle just sits there and nothing happens??

I have had my S class for 5 years now and had a couple of different bottles of Pacific Mood fragrance. I had been very disappointed with the system and wondered if the tubes were blocked, I even asked the dealership about it and they said it was very subtle !!
The fact the liquid was going down meant it was doing something but really I could not smell it
Anyway a couple of weeks ago I saw a " Mayback No.8 Mood " bottle on Ebay for about £55 so I thought I would give it a go, well, it works perfectly so I guess I was just immune to the earlier smell or it was too weak a smell.
Really pleased, have set it to medium setting and it is fine , just a little waft every so often.
So if you are in the same situation as I was then it may be worth trying a different bottle before thinking you might have to change the tube behind the dash or try some other repair.

I prefer the scent Rolls Royce #65 myself.

it doesn't make the car smell all the time, in fact today my front passenger made no comment at all about it so it does not seem overpowering
it just seems to puff a very small amount out every 10 minutes or so
I may try the RR one you mention next time

You may have trouble finding it. It’s very exclusive. It only works if you stop taking your meds.
