The flagship luxury sedan from Mercedes Benz is apparently getting an all-new look come 2021.

Looks better compared to the pics I saw years back. However, I wish we could get away from the large screens Exterior looks beautiful. Have to wait and see it in person.

2018 S560 and 2019 E450 Wagon.
I think I’ll wait to check out that car vs getting a 2020 anytime soon. I really like the electronics better in the 2018s up. The command is not very good in my 2017. The internet does not work.

I'm sorry, whether or not the interiors are C or S class, they are deal killers IMO. Horrible styling. Not up to the elegant lines of Mercedes.

As long as it looks like this and not a large 2021 e class im good. The new E class looks like a genesis or an infiniti, its horrible. really horrible. Im excited about the new sclass Ill be getting a 2021 in 2023 after that 2 year depreciation hits. I cant wait. Does any one know the engine designations yet S450 i assume S580 and S73. That is what the forums say for now.

If it's anything like the E class, Mercedes is a write-off.
This is pathetic wrt how bad Mercedes cars now look. No longer sleek, bold, or anything. Just fat and ugly.

Personally, the front of the updated E doesn't bother me too much as I will reserve judgement until I see it. The rear however is another story, it's a mess. Those rear lights can be found on numerous non MB cars, hardly unique to the E.

Unlike the new S Class, the E has just a minor facelift aka no real metal changes with some different headlights, grill and tail lights. Overall similar in look and feel.
The E-class wasn't sleek before or bold either

I think the current Gen E class looks alright. The new one, looks pathetic. Opinions aren't meant to hurt anyone.

I agree. Many of us here, myself included , can really get wound up over designs, colors, etc. But I believe that this is mostly due to how much most here love the brand and how disappointed we are in the seemingly mediocre direction MB has been taking their aesthetics over the past few years. The cars & SUV’s are so wonderful in so many ways, why can’t the visuals be just as wonderful? That question asked, MB certainly isn’t alone in this respect. One would be hard pressed these days to find a major auto maker with pleasing designs & color offerings across their product lines. There are usually some exceptions here and there, but for the most part, I feel we are currently in the midst of crossing what I would call a design/aesthetics “Gobi Desert,” with not much relief in sight.
To me, the rear of the upcoming, face-ifted E sedan looks like any number of Asian econo-boxes on the road. Unfortunately, it would appear that the new S Class will be following close behind. Both, of course, will probably be available in the exact same, old, worn out, exterior & interior colors. Oh well.
Don’t like the upcoming S Class? Well, then how about a new 7 Series? Is that butt-ugly or what? In a way, it would appear that many major auto makers have lost their minds and have thrown elegance under the bus, in favor of “in your face” outrageousness. I guess that’s another thing we can thank the Chinese for?

Mercedes is going back to horizontal tail lights which they have had for decades. Like Asian? If I can rewind this back to the beginning of the E213, there were many comments hating the rear end of that car and the car overall with statements of how Mercedes has lost its way and how they will never buy another MB again...
The design changes for the E are minor in my opinion. It’s a facelift after all. Only the W212 had a dramatic metal changing facelift because the original W212 design was so out of date in their design language, it was sticking out like a sore thumb.
Design changes over time like fashion, from round curves to sharp edges and back again to keep short attention span customers interested. Add in the occasional changes to tech like LED giving more design freedom and pedestrian safety laws taking many design choices away.

In reality for me I see no reason not to keep driving my 2017 with 19K miles on it now for another 5 or so years, I guess by then MB will be onto the 224's if I'm still around then. Looks like I'll internet soon in my car. Figured out what it was. The internet was never properly registered when the car was new and came into VPC, they never entered the Command unit S/N and therefore ti was not allowing apps or internet radio to open. Just waiting for the servers to accept the info at this point, it takes a little time. The previous owner of my car never used internet so never noticed it never worked.

It's simple, if you want to drive a car with a nice front, get a 7-series BMW. If you want a nice interior and nice rear, get S-class. In my pinion, it seems like the new W223 is losing the rear but will preserve it's #1 ranking in terms of the interior. The new design/shape of MB headlights for 2021+ models doesn't seem to be that sharp to me. I think anyway it will be really tough to come up with a design nicer than the W222 especial with the AMG package on it, this design is just out of this world.
