Exclamation Need the forums help with a trade and purchase

OK so I currently own a 2015 S550 v4 my warranty runs out in 21 days and im either going to extend it or sell it and buy another certified preowned. I have owned a bunch of luxury cars in my short lifetime, today is my 42nd birthday and due to the conoravirus cars prices is coming down so I may get a 2016 or 2017 s550, I cant afford the 2018 as of yet. The price will have to drop some more. But whatever I do after owning bmws, lexus and others I will always have a sclass in my possession God willing. Its my favorite blend of luxury and drivability. Should I keep my current car which has 49000 miles or get a 2016 or 2017 certified for the same amount as getting the warranty plus trade. I plan on getting the 2021 s class redesign in late 2023 anyway so with the current landscape of society I can go either way. Can some of you chime in, I had my 2015 going on 3 years and its my first benz and its the best luxury car I have owned.

Have you driven the other years you are interested in?
Have you found one yet to test drive?

If the 2016/2017 models come down due to COVID-19, then that also goes for the 2015 model. Personally I wouldn't jump into the same car that's a bit younger as the differential may not be worth it. There is too little change besides the 9 speed on the 2017's. Wait a little longer to go for a 2018+. If the 2015 is a trade, having warranty won't change the price either. You have to assess the risk of an upcoming repair but these cars are solid.
I assume that MB will also lower interest sooner or later (could be a month or two)

In my opinion, if you have your car and u know it's reliable and you've been driving it for years, it's best to keep it as you know it has been a good one. It's a risk to buy another one if you are happy with yours especially that your are not looking for the facelifted one. I personally decided to keep mine few months ago even after the warranty expired and decided not to extend or trade the car in for a newer model. The car is super reliable and no matter what happens insurance will always make money more than u so it's best that you take the risk for 2-3 years if u are driving few miles only per year, then u can upgrade to the 2021 model in 2023 which is also my plan.

Solid advice especially if the OP is happy with the car he has now.
If the market softens to the point where there is a good buying opportunity for a 18+ model, go for it then.

No more MB:(
I'd keep what you have unless you make the jump to an 18.

Sounds like your car has been problem free, definitely keep your car for 3 years and get the 2021 off lease in 3 years.

Ya, not much difference between a 2015 and 2017. I've had both and both great cars. I got rid of my 2015 a year and half ago and was sorry I did so I bought a 2017 a few months ago.

Keep your '15! These cars are meant to last literally a lifetime. I owned the same 1993 W140 S-Class for 13 years. I now drive a 2004 W240. Granted, I'm retired and don't drive a lot, maybe 5,000 miles a year. As has been pointed out, the W222 has not changed appreciably. Save your cash. Build an emergency fund for any repairs. Keep up with scheduled maintenance and you'll be fine.

Keep the car you have. I agree with what everyone else has said. You would only be lining the pockets of the dealership by trading and the car is just like a '16 or a '17. I think the '18 had some problems but my '19 has been trouble free.

With the climate of the country, Im keeping it and probably going with carchex for a warranty extending it to 5 years and in 2023 or 2024 buying another sclass and just have two. My 2015 will be my daily and my 2021 in 2023 or 24 will be my weekend car but now that Im hearing that the new s class coupe will turn into the SL and they are finally entertaining the new SL with a hardtop that might be my move. Either way im keeping my 2015. Thank you to everyone that responded. Its very much appreciated.

Tuff to say with no numbers? say the warty is going to cost you 4k your current is worth 40k and you can get a 17 for 45 with lower miles and better options..Id trade. ... But more than likely it will cost you 15-20k to get the same car 2 years newer.

When I bought my 2015 last April, although it had only 6,200 mi it was out of factory warranty (in service September 2014). Both of the warranty dealers mentioned on this forum suggested a Fidelity Platinum warranty. Pricing is based on current vehicle mileage. A good thing about Fidelity, you can buy from any auto dealer that sells them so your MB dealer should be negotiable. I was able to get mine at a good price from a local MB dealer. As an aside, I have already used the warranty once for the pneumatic seat pump replacement and touch pad repair.
