Will factory shutdown kill last W222’s?

With the factory shutdowns at MB and many of their suppliers, do we feel that the production of the 2020 W222 will be extended, and W223 production pushed out, or might they shut down the W222 right now and start up again with the new model? When you think about it, it could go either way. Hey, Mr. Wolfman: any inside info on this? Anyone here have an unbuilt 2020 on order? If so, what is your dealer telling you?

my 2020 order was accepted this morning. custom build to my spec to get one of the last 222s. customisation must be ordered by the 2nd decade of april. build scheduled for 31 may. delivered ~4mos later. as i say - one of the last to roll off the line. but we'll see what actually happens. if it is cancelled, i'll be one of the first to get the 223 - even though i don't really want it. its proposed tech-heavy spec spooks me from a first-year functionality perspective. but it's only a stupid car, after all. more pressing issues to consider today. i'll keep you updated on this string if you like.

Well, you got me off my behind and I just placed a new order as well.

The lease on my 2018 is up in February. If all goes well, the new car should show up in July or August, at which time there should be substantial incentives to move the 2020’s. In addition, I will be looking for MBFS to pick up most, if not all, of my remaining payments on my 2018. I really don’t want a first year W223, with all the new tech. In addition, I so LOVE my 2018, that getting another new W222 makes sense to me. My new car will be identical to my current car—18” wheels and all—but I popped for the 3D audio this time around.

Somebody called? I have no insights on this since COVID-19 is a complete wildcard here. Will we have a 3 week or 4 months impact? Normally materials are sourced to fulfill the committed production schedule but if the factory and component vendors shut down for an extended period of time, this can really screw with the new model production.
So my optimistic gut feel would be delayed but build

With the factory shut down, and everyone on leave, there is every reason to believe that they are not there converting the factory from W222 into a factory for W223. Thus, I expect a delay on changeover from W222 to W223.

Lucky for me my 2015 V12 is running and looking fine.
