How good is the lane keeping and distronic cruise control in 2020 W222?
I am considering buying a 2020 W222 because I don't like the interior (and likely exterior) of the W223. Seems like the main improvement would be its 3rd gen self driving.
How good is the current Lane Keeping and Distronic? The last iteration I tried in 2016 was clumsy and jerky---would likely get me pulled over for DUI.
Has the "AI" improved since then? Would I be able to rely on it 99% for the long stretch from LA to Vegas?

I have a 2020 S560. On highway driving it is pretty much perfect. Very steady and not much in the way of weaving. The weakness is local driving on twisty roads. It just doesn't drive like a human in those conditions, often taking the outside of a curve and having trouble with shoulder lines that fade into a side street. But local driving isn't what most people want automated driving for, so it's not really a big deal.

Distronic Plus in my 2018 S560 is truly magnificent! I always use it on the freeway and even on some surface streets. It’s like having a second set of eyes watching out whenever you might get distracted. The lane keeping feature isn’t that great.

Exactly my experience with my own 2018 S560. Would imagine the 2020 is even more refined.

It's a shame but I think you are right. All I want is to be able to cruise down the interstate type highways and free my hands from the steering wheel and go for miles without having to re-grip the steering wheel every minute or so. I would watch the road like a hawk and would only use it when there are very few other drivers around. Hopefully I can get the ECM altered and get a programing tool to remove the safety feature.
