Ventilated Seat Comfort

Are the W222 ventilated seats less comfortable than the non ventilated? My experience in a W221 with ventilated seats was they were not nearly as cushy as the non-ventilated. It seemed like they had less padding due to the ventilation hardware.

MB’s of all kinds.
Interesting. I did not know they even make a S Class without ventilated seats. I do not think I have ever seen once since like 2000. If anything what would make the seat more or less comfortable would be the leather.

Ya, I think the 222's are vented seats STD.

Thanks guys. Looks like it is part of the P01 package which is as you suggest effectively standard equipment. So the W222's I have sat in which I found comfortable in all likelihood had the ventilated seats. Now I am beginning to wonder whether it was the massage seats that weren't as comfortable in the W221.

The options listed in the premium package include "Driver and front passenger seat front seat heated and ventilated with 18-way power active/massage and active seat bolstering"

Not sure what all of that was standard. Heated standard and rest optional? Heated and cooled standard,... and the rest an option?

For sure the massage function is optional,... and part of the premium pack.

That by itself adds a ton of little air-bladders and hoses into the seat.

Anyone know that "Heated Front Seats PLUS" means? What's the "PLUS"? Is that rapid heating?

To be clear when I mentioned that they were "effectively standard" what I was saying is that I doubt that there is a single S Class in the US without the P01 package so in that sense all of the cars have it.

My W222 seats with ventilation, heating and massage are by far the most comfortable seats out of nearly 100 auto’s I’ve owned. I don’t even use the massage feature because it can’t apply the pressure I need to be noticeable, but the overall supportive cushiness is unbeatable IMO.

Is it possible the car you sat in had the multi-contour seats and whoever sat there last adjusted them in a strange way? So many portions of the seat are adjustable in so many ways

The PLUS might be the fact that you can turn on the cooling and heating function on at the same time which does seem to make you feel warmer quicker. I don't know if that is what they are referring to.

Speaking of which;

My car has the Warmth & Comfort package,.. so the center and door armrests are heated, front and back.

What DOES happen when you turn on both the heat and cool on the seats?

Does it heat and cool the seats simultaneously?

Or does it cool the seats and heat the armrests? (Armrests heat with the seat heating).

I have a FLIR thermal imager,.. so I may try switching on both heated front seats,... and cooling on just one side,..and see what if any difference there is.

No the seat just felt hard compared to the W221 seats. I now remember playing around with the massage function because it was a novelty to me. It just felt like there was hardware under the seat to support the massage function.

Lot of big name car reviewers have said that the seats in the W222 are hard. Won't feel like a Lexus LS. Plush and comfy

My apologies for my lack of clarity, when I said the seat felt hard I was comparing a W221 with massage to W221 without. When I have sat in a W222 I thought the seat felt good like a W221 without massage.
