V12 Seat Badging?
Any idea why my V8 S560 has a V12 badge on the seat? It doesn't appear to have been added after the fact, it looks perfect like it came from the factory. Maybe a manufacturing error?

It's only on the front drivers seat. As for previous owner being a poser, why just one little tiny V12 badge? Why not all 4 seats? Why not throw on a fake S650 badge on the trunklid while your at it? I'm gonna call benz tomorrow to see if they have any insight but I'm not holding my breathe...
Having taken apart my Porsche seats, I cannot imagine anyone taking apart an S-class seat just to add a badge. In the Porsche, there are labels with numbers and dates on the inside of the upholstery, and that would be interesting to see on yours to know if they match the manufacture date of the car. It's possible someone swapped in an S600 driver's seat to address some kind of problem with the original seat the car came with.
My S65 with Designo interior has the AMG logo on all four seat backs. The Designo designation is on the console cover over the cup holders. The AMG logo is also embossed into the Console compartment lid. Perhaps the V12 emblem was used on S600's. My 2009 SL600 has that logo in the two seat backs.

Someone's got some 'splai-nin' to do. Very interested in seeing how this happened.

Perhaps the previous owner did something to the seat cover that required it be replaced. Perhaps the person that looked up the part number got the wrong part number and ordered a seat cover for a V12 equipped car.
