I put these in my 2017 SL550 and 2018 S560. There automatically connect Android to my phone wirelessly via Bluetooth when I enter the car. Works with either Apple Car Play or Android Auto—$ 72.83 delivered with Amazon. Just plug into your USB #2 port and it 100% self-installs.

That device is for cars that already have Car Play/Android Auto. Last poster was looking for a good device that adds Car Play/Android Auto to a car that doesn't have it (pre-facelift).

I have the ZZ2 unit and was also sold that it's sourced better and based in the US. My biggest complaint is the resolution is not correct for the command screen.

CarPlay doesn't fill up the screen and it's stretched out. ZZ2 stated it was working as designed and wouldn't offer me a discount or refund my purchase.

It does function properly.

*** Edit *** this thread made me reach out to ZZ2 and they did have an update that now allows their module to use the Mercedes Bluetooth instead of the auxiliary ports. Sounds much better now.

Joined just to say thanks for this thread and to confirm the ZZ kit works great, as well as another Chicago area person who went to ABT. It wasn’t cheap, but it works flawlessly and connects each time wirelessly. My only small gripe is that you can’t see the HVAC controls while in use, but very easy to toggle back and forth to check. Also, depending on the screen, you can still use the command pad to swipe to the next track, but usually it only works on the multi display screen view for CarPlay (maps, song, calendar or similar)

Overall, very happy with it and really transforms the car for me.

What did it cost you to have it professionally installed? I wouldn't even think of doing it myself but so far the only place in the Bay Area wanted $1200, there was another shop that I wish I had pulled the trigger with (Sound Wave) that went out of business a few years ago. I should have had them do it I trusted those guys.

I think after taxes it was $1000-$1100, more than I wanted to spend but it’s been worth it. Unfortunately, stuff like this or a remote start, you get charged the “euro luxury fee “

lol yup! It’s an upcharge compared to easy JDM unfortunately. Never hurts to get multiple quotes.

Years and years ago, when I had my first W222 (2015 model year), I think I was one of the very first to serve as beta tester for the oyeauto CarPlay system. I posted about it at the time. Installation is easy but requires pulling the central console slightly backward to access the headunit. I really liked that unit and it worked well. At that time they only had a wired connection device, so am not sure where they are nowadays as far as development, but it worked very well. Agian, that was about 6 years ago. Recently, I tried the Carlinklife for my GLS, I warn you guys: If you will have no tech issues, you are safe, but once you have some technical issues (like audio randomly disconnecting, etc) their customer support is really really really bad. They’ll respond first but once they fail to solve the problem they started to ignore me. I actually had to dispute my transaction and luckily it was through AliExpress not their website, so AliExpress reviewed my case in detail and issues a refund for me when they were basically ignoring me and refusing to offer a solution. Good luck with whatever you go with buy am afraid that with gen 1 W222, there will not be any ideal solution.

good points, that’s why I went with the ZZ kit as they are US based and ABT (installer) has direct contact with them if needed as well as giving me the manual with a help number as well. Def a tad riskier with Chinese based kits and no local support, so I gladly paid the upcharge overall and am extremely happy with the results
