Rim Rash/Scuffs
When I bought my car earlier this year one of the AMG wheels had a minor scuff. Not wanting to wait, the sales person said they'd repair when I brought the car in for 10k service. Since then I picked up additional minor scuffs. I forgot about my discussion with the sales person so while the car was in for service they called to say they were sending all 4 wheels out to remove the scuffs and apply paint touch-up, at no charge, which was a pleasant surprise.
I asked them to hold off until they install my new tires in few weeks.
I’m now wondering if I should avoid having the wheels touched up at all…the word “paint” gives me reason to pause. It feels like paint color is hardly ever going to be an exact match.
Is touch-up painting normal? If so, does the paint fade over time making the wheels look off-color or splotchy in the touch-up areas?
