Changing Stations

Looking for the best way to navigate through the 200-plus channels on Sirius XM, other than shuffling up and down through all the channels ...

Let's say I'm listening to 80s on 8 and think, gee, I'd like to go jump to the 100-150 range. Is there a voice command I use to say "channel 100" ... ? Maybe set a preset for every 20 XM station numbers or so, like 20, 40, 60, 70, etc?

You can have an awful lot in the presets. I have like 20 Sirius channels in my presets and I just spin though them with the command wheel.

How do you set it up so that you only scroll through presets instead of all the channels?

Pretty straightforward…

Edit… it’s been a while but think once on the station you want, hold down the knob until you get a beep. Then repeat.

I'm now in the habit of hitting the voice command button, and saying "Station Number". The system prompts me to enter the station number I want. Easiest method I've found.

I wonder if satellite radio with hundreds of channels existed in Europe when they designed the UI for this service. Surely the product planners realized users would want a simple way to navigate all that content. In our Honda we have satellite presets for every 30 or so stations. So when I want to go to 'Watercolors', I use the preset that takes me to station number 60, then tap my way up to 66.

I've saved 7 or 8 channels I like as presets so they are starred and are in the preset list, but they are spread out. What I want to do is be able to only "see" or "scroll to" saved channels, not every channel. I think I had this setup for terrestrial/local radio on my 17 S550, but I don't remember if I did it for satellite radio or not.

I’ve done it for satellite, after pushing the radio button on the console all I get are my favorites, then rotate the knob to scroll thru them.

And I rarely use satellite radio any more - I plug in my phone and go to my Apple Music playlists. Someone ^ mentioned Watercolors… I used to listen to that all the time. Yacht Rock also. Maybe I need to pull up SXM more.

Yes, when I don't want to manually switch between presets... I use voice commands.

As long as you're already listening to SIRIUS radio, you just press the steering wheel voice control button and say "Station: The Blend" and it will tune to "The Blend." As long as you can remember the station name, you're golden!

I mainly listen to only these 5 channels, so I just have to remember the name: 80s on 8, The Blend, The Bridge, Classic Rewind, Yacht Rock Radio.

Good luck!

I guess I'm the only person who prefers USB over other media components

I also prefer to just pop a USB stick in for all my music.

Don’t USB sticks use MP3 music files? I have a memory card with tons of music plugged into the console just in case. My Apple Music is all downloaded as hi-res or lossless, so hopefully it sounds better on the fancy 3D sound system.
