HUD Double Image
My new 2020 S560 4Matic came with HUD. At first, I thought the image was out of focus. Dealer “adjusted location” but no help. I just realized it is actually a double image. Has anyone else seen this? Where on the windshield should the image be? Mine is just above the hood.

Discuss attached bulletin with shop foreman or lead tech suggesting they revisit adaptation settings.

Ya, something is out of whack with that it should be more clear, new car warranty though use it. Some dealers can handle stuff like this others (my experience a lot in Florida) cant and you then need to find another dealer who will address the issue, some dealers will write it off as being normal or tell you to see the eye doctor that sort of thing. It's a shame because that sort of attitude degrades Mercedes as a whole.

I sent the photo to the Service Leader. He says they once had a bad camera in an S600 and thinks that may be it.
I have an appointment in a couple of weeks - we'll see what happens. My wife's $23,000 Mazda has a perfectly clear HUD. Go figure.

Defects happens but I know that feeling, a guy in a Honda laughed at me when my keyless go didn't work when he had no problem getting in his car.

After telling me before that they had seen this in an S600 before (and it was a bad camera) they “calibrated and adjusted” it again (no replacement camera). The quality of the image is the same but it was shifted lower on the windshield such that the bottom 20-25% of it isn’t visible.
I asked what the next step was and was told that this is how all MB HUD’s are and that the imagelocation can’t be adjustable, so I have to change my seat position to make the bottom of the display visible.
What???
So now I am on a mission to find another S-class with HUD so I can verify the image is clear.
if anyone can post a photo of yours, I’d appreciate it.

Image location is not adjustable???? What are they talking about? Of course it’s adjustable.
my image is perfectly clear on my 2018 560.
In a previous comment someone mentioned HUD fluid. Don’t know if they were kidding but in my GMC I get two lines at the top of my HUD screen that act like fluid. When I make a sharp turn they have a fluid like movement toward the side of how I turn. I swear I thought it has to be a liquid in the hud to give that effect. Not sure why they occasionally show up but they are right in my line of sight and very annoying.

If the windshield is tinted, it came that way new.

What an idiot. I just looked at the manual and found that menu and the HUD adjustments. Obviously I’m not as “good” as I thought I was. Still a double image, but at least I can see it all now. Thanks and apologies for being ignorant.

My '19 S560 is clear and focused. I previously had a '17 S550 and had the same EXACT problem. It seemed to happen after I had the windshield replaced. Took it in and similar responses, regarding eye glasses etc....
I went into the service mode, and there are quite a few test screens you can put up in the display, and make adjustments...keystone etc. None of which seemed to work. It's either the HUD unit itself which displays the image, or the windshield, in my opinion.
Good luck!
