Error Message
After a one hour drive a message kept popping up and then reappearing constantly
It said lane assist inoperable.

Sometimes something as simple as a restart will fix this. I get his occasionally this and had on previous models, if chronic take it in. If a one time thing, leave it alone. These systems are so complex and sensitive.

Could be something simple as a dirty a radar sensor or dirty windshield (you have cameras behind the rearview mirror reading the road ahead) or something more complex. If the weather conditions are clear and the car is clean, I would monitor the issue and take it in if it continues.
