W222 Colors
Just to satisfy my curiosity, I took a look at all the W222 cars (2014 - 2020) currently on True Car's website and found the following distribution of colors:
Black 403 cars 47%
White 185 21%
Gray 105 12%
Silver 80 9%
Blue 73 8%
Green 15 2%
Certainly this is a non-scientific sampling and maybe someone has actual production numbers. Nevertheless, I found it interesting to think the three blacks plus white could be over two-thirds of all the US W222s. Likewise, I would have thought silver would be more highly represented in the sample. Perhaps some silver cars are characterized as gray by mistake in the listings ... or maybe the matte gray adds to the gray total.

We looked at Ruby Black W222 models. It can look a bit purple in different light situations but stands out from standard black. Couldn't find one in that color with the miles, interior & options we wanted so we took black.
040 Standard Black units can be found with any interior & options available. There are sometimes several variants of blacks, whites and silvers with metallic, non-metallic and matte finishes in that sample I would assume.

Black is the most gorgeous color in a W222 to me as well. However, my favorite is gray .Speaking of colors, well it should have been further detailed given the fact that there's too many black color options to choose from so are other colors

Just got a 040 Black S63. Looks fantastic when clean. The other 98% of the time is shows everything. Oh well.

Black looks the best, but gray is what I wanted (and bought). Sometimes I wish I'd gone with black... but most of the time I like that its a little different.

I think that one reason black appears at the top of the list is that in the UK, and I guess other countries, the black S Class is the most prominent car used for limo services, in London they would be known as " Knightsbridge Taxis" , they do look lovely when clean and polished but that is a lot of polishing work in the wetter months, my dark blue Jaguar needs cleaning several times a week in the winter, however my Diamond Silver S Class does not show the dirt so much.
