It may make sense to keep the laptop on one coast at a time for as long as possible. For me to ship it back to California (from Maryland) was $120; that plus the $150 rental fee does add up!
Hi Vince
Please add me to the list. I'm interested
BTW, I'm in Dallas, TX to see if anyone is here interested near by. So that we can save on Shipping cost.
I've had a chance to use the ILS+ system for a few days now. It's pretty awesome. It doesn't really work till about 30mph. You can leave the high beams on all the time. It will automatically raise the high beams and darken areas where there are other cars so as not to blind other drivers. Can't understand why it's still not legal/available in the US. The technology goes back more than 7-8 years already.
All Cars Lost To Hurricane Isaac (W124 E420 revived - added 88 Allante 14 S550, 17 S63
It is legal now, which is the reason initiated the activation and this thread.. you are correct ..it is awesome... i was driving in the right lane with traffic in the center and left lanes just ahead of me... in somewhat rural houston... it had my high beams on and i thought "im close to the cars up ahead and my highbeams are still on"... and then a saw it... the reflection in the overhead traffic sign ahead... i saw a distinct line of light... on the side where the cars were ahead ...no headlight (from me).. and yet in front of me... my headlights projected way past there headlights.... the dark/light line was lazer straight ... my path was highly lit and the center and left lanes traffic ahead was undisturbed... yep .. pretty awesome

Yes, i am in. Just sent Compaddict a note to make sure i am not too late as i should have sent him the deposit for the unit already but forgot all about it.
Hey Vince, I'm still interested but confused about the cost for the rental. Please bear with me and understand I really appreciate the service you're performing for all of us.
The rental fee originally was $60 plus shipping back and forth ($680 down, $620 returned). More than fair. However you're still asking the $60 fee + your original out of pocket $70 shipping or $130 ($750 down, $620 returned) to cover the cost of shipping the unit to me in Colorado. But you won't be shipping the gear to me, the previous person in line is paying for the shipping out of their pocket, like I'll pay for the shipping to the next guy or if I'm last in line to return it to you. (This of course makes more sense than it going back and forth to California. It saves us all a lot of money.) But I think you may have inadvertently kept the original shipping charge (from your home to the first renter) in your fee to all of us. Does this make sense?

that’s a good point. I paid for shipping to me and shipping to the next person! Is that right?
Like I said, Vince, totally inadvertently - an oversight. And again I really appreciate the generous favor you're doing all of us by "fronting" this.
So... send you $680 via PayPal right?
And Merserybenze I'd be happy to kick in toward that first shipping fee you paid on behalf of all of us.
Amazing, its really amazing that all of that technology was just sitting in the car turned off.
Its hard right around here to find places where its dark enough to really get the full benefit, and there is light enough traffic. Where I really will appreciate these is in WV, where these will shine is on a dark highway where I can have highbeams on my side and not blind oncoming drivers, and on a dark country road where they will just isolate the periodic oncoming cars. I'm going to go back out around say 11:30 when the roads are less busy.
Couple things, the car still turns high beams off and on. So, you really have to be above say 35-40MPH, and it has to be dark enough for the high beams to trigger (that threshhold is now less dark than it was when the highs were just on and off). If you're traveling say on a road with cars in front of you, essentially you have high beams to the sides, and low beams dead ahead, if that makes sense. So you have the height and additional light throw to the sides that you have with high beams. If you then have an oncoming car you'll see it fade down that side and then fade it right back up when the car passes. As your distance from the cars ahead of you increases you will see it slowly start to bring that cutoff up to where its always along the top of those car's rear bumpers.
Even low beams though, I feel like the illumination to the sides is better.
Very satisfied. You should have them activated. I'll post more thoughts after my second ride.
750.00 includes shipping to you. Refund 620.00 when the next user (or me) has possession.
Check with Peter for his pricing!
Okay... I suppose I pay $680 to you, and shipping costs to whoever has the tech before me. I also pay Peter for his kind services. After this, I am refunded $620 making my net payment $60 + Prior User Shipping + Peter's Coding. Perhaps I am mistaken?

Just a note that the pattern has been that the prior user pays to ship it to you and then you pay out-of-pocket to send it along or finally return it to California.
Also, BenzNinja quoted $250 to install the ILS+ mod.
A few questions:
What is the year for the s-Class that this feature can be used on?
Any difference in pricing if the car has Night Vision?
Anyone know what other features can be added while the Update is being done, Web Site does not include any list.
Thanks for creating this thread, great find and extremely fair pricing.
