Using the fan speed button on the dash I can set the fan level from 1 thru 7, 1 being the lowest default setting. Is there a setting to not have the fan blowing at all. I can't find a way to get it to 0 fan setting?

You would need to shut off the system to set the fan to 0. Unfortunately, you have to go into the menu and uncheck the climate control box - there is no button to do it. Use the rotary controller to arrow down to the climate bar and then uncheck the box.

Thanks, frostsdad. Hard to believe you have to shut the entire system off to turn off the fan,

By turning off the fan you are turning the whole system off. My guess is they want people to know the system is shut off and not running- it isn't good for the long term health of the interior. Originally Posted by drose224

Mine shuts off by just pushing the fan speed button all the way down to "0". I just went out to my car to make sure I'm right. No menu surfing necessary.Originally Posted by drose224

Thanks MBS63AMG, I’m going to give that a try. I would imagine that function wouldn’t be limited to just an AMG version

MBS63AMG- I tried and can’t select zero when pressing down in increments on fan speed. I can’t select a speed lower than 1. It seems strange this would work on your car and not mine - unless they have it restricted to AMG models. Seems unlikely but maybe so. Anyway, it’s a pain to need to go deep into climate settings to turn off, but rare that I ever turn it anyway. .
I can turn it off pressing down the fan speed button. It goes from any speed that was when in auto to 1 and then off. My car is 2020 S450

aegroup - seems they must’ve added an enhancement with the refresh post 2017. A good choice I think - vs having to enter the menu to shut off. I don’t turn it off much, but it is still annoying. First world problems!

Sorry, but I'm at a loss as to why yours won't operate like mine. The earliest model W222 I had was a 2017 S63 and it operated the same way as my current 2019 S560. Originally Posted by frostsdad

Because the change happened with the 2017 facelift. Originally Posted by MBS63AMG

The 2017 was still prior to the facelift but this particular feature must have been changed a year early. The 2018 models were the facelift year. With MB, they change things sometimes in the middle of a year. They did it with the first year of the W221 in the late 2005-2006 years even though those cars were labeled as 2007 models! I had a 2016 E350 and I noticed many 2016 year model cars changed the headlight and taillight assemblies right in the middle of the year. Originally Posted by DaveW68

Yeah in my short time of ownership this is one huge annoyance, have to go into the climate control screen to turn off.
There are like 20 buttons under screen one of them couldn't be a simple on/off switch? Seems rather obvious, all the other basics are there on on center console buttons.

I had to figure that out as the dealership I bought my CPO didn't teach me anything about the car, worst salesperson ever. It is annoying, also the car wants to turn on the AC very often when I don't need it and have to dig into the menu to shut the AC off. I like the fact we still had switchgear in the car and it would make total sense to push that button down all the way to 0. As stated first world problem.
