I was wr*&%*ng

I saw, for the first time today, an EQS 450 on the road, white in color. The car actually looked nice and did stand out. I have been sour on the styling since its public release.

The car i saw today was appealing and did look high end and equal to the S badge.

for some reason, it looked better on the road vs the showroom.

I hate when i am wro*%$*ng.

I live in the SF Bay Area and I have seen many of them already here. They do look pretty sweet and I agree they look better in person than in mags and on the web. The interior looks very space age and perhaps I like it better than the new S interior, I was never a fan of "hung on" screens vs. the way the W222 has the screens integrated into the car which EQS has. There was a review of it comparing it to the Lucid Air and it lost, but this is a first rev I am sure it will improve and at some point the S and EQS will merge, no reason to build 2 different interiors for 120+ cars. In CA they are saying in 10 years no more ICE cars for sale so they need to aim for that.

I prefer W222 exterior styling , I don't like EQS and EQE when I look at the sides of those cars . However, interior is the best I have ever seen in any car . I have to say I'm a wood trim fan but displays are awesome in EQS and I would happily prefer those displays instead of wood trim panels without without without any whatever it is

We got to do a test drive when they were touring with a fleet of them (EQS), and it was great to drive and the interior was awesome, but the exterior styling was lost on me at the time. It looked too much like an electric car.
However, I saw one on the road the other day, and it looked sharp, now where did I leave that $100k?

Going off topic, one concern that I have about anything electric, other than Telsa, is the charging network, and going on a road trip. I read horror stories of people who try to make 1,000 mile trips in an electric car, and their trails and tribulations that they go through to keep the battery topped off

I agree the interior looks awesome. I have only seen it in a parked car so couldn't see the screens but a few youtube video reviews were pretty cool. I would take it over the new S class in a heartbeat. I just wonder my MB didn't just use he base of the S-Class exterior instead of messing with it and make it look like an egg, although it looks much better in person as noted.

I saw it in dealer and had taken opportunity to have a seat in the top spec one after a minute i new it alraedy that its not for me although that generally I did like the interior of it. . I can seat at work in front of screen but when I drive I don't like to be overwhelmed by images from screens .
I had to force myself to W222 in this matter. I saw as well the BASIC version is more in class of mercedes truck then limousine .

Saw my first one actually in the wild today. It just doesn’t look like anything special, doesn’t catch your eye in any way like an S Class does

When compared to the ICE S Class i do agree...but Its an electric S, and to my eye looks classier (hence S) than the other electrics i see on the road

Elegant? Majestic? Not to my eyes. Wife and I saw one yesterday and it didn't make an impression of being anything special to her.

The interior is nice, though the rear headroom felt worse than W222's, but it's a liftback compared to the sedan W222 and I am not fan of those.

I think both the Model S and Lucid Air are WAY better looking and catch my eye way more.

The Model S is pretty universally praised for its styling. I have never seen a Buick that looks anything like that lol

The EQS on the road does not look “ugly” like I feel it looks when you really look at it…it just looks like nothing. It has no presence at all, commands no attention. It doesn’t even look big…my wife and my mother were with me, and neither could believe it was a $120K plus car, and it really didn’t look it.

I saw a Lucid Air and my wife was with me then, and that got a wow out of her. Model Ss are everywhere now so any new reaction is gone.

Not equivalent

Looks are one thing, but its not equivalent.
i finally had the chance to sit in one last week. It does not have the same shoulder or head room and was unfortunately a dealbreaker for me. My head, 6’3” was against the ceiling with the seat all the way down.

i wad really disappointed.

I drove one. The brake pedal feel is just bizarre. Car and Driver in newest issue described it being like pushing play-doh through a hole ...

It's a hatchback and there's no frunk.

Otherwise it's ok, just not something aspirational.

im dissapointed to hear that shoulder/headroom is notably compromised... that just cant be if its an "S"

I recall my old w220 S55. my 6'3" brother sat in the back seat and replied " i can stand up back here !!!"... a memory that still makes me smile... an S with compromised interior room is a possible deal breaker

I’m 6’2” and dont recall any issues when test driving one, but I am fairly evenly proportioned between legs vs torso. @Teamsabino are you long in the torso and short in the leg, or does is that extra inch in height just enough to make it uncomfortable?

I always imagine Mercedes using a big German dude to test fit all the vehicles, just a strange image that I have.

I fit and have driven many classes B, GLB, C, E, CLS, GLE, S, GLS all without issue. My wife had a GLC coupe and I found that tight, I also test drive a GLE coupe that felt confining.

Different stroke for different folks! I still think it looks like an electric car 🚗

I do have more torso than leg, but I’ve also noticed this on other newer Benz sedans. My W212 definitely has more head, and shoulder room than the W213’s i’ve had as loaners, my head is right against the sunroof surround.

The only W213 I had a good space experience with was a rental in Germany, that had glass roof.

Its not an S Class. If it were an S Class there would not also be an S Class. The "S" in EQS does not make it any more an S Class than the S in GLS makes it so. When you look at the EQS through the lens of it not being a replacement for the S Class, but rather the top of the EQ line, then the vehicle is more appealing.

No more MB:(
The question is, if no MB badge would as many people find it attractive? I think not. To me it's a blob and always will be. There are better looking EV's.

It's just my opinion, but if you look at what other EV manufacturers are doing with space, interior, trunk and frunk as compared to the MB EQ line, well it's half-assed at best. Nice interior but not really a solid effort.
