The gear shows D1-D7 rather than D.

I have the car, S550 2016 RWD, and drove it for almost 100k km. It was always displayed on D unless I press the paddle but now it just drives from D1-D7 depending on the gear and I can’t seem to get out of this back to D as always. Gear seems fine, shifts smoothly. What may the problem be?

Even between start/stop cycles? If it is during a daily drive and I've intervened the shifting by using my paddle shifters which I do a lot, I sometimes push down on the gear stalk while going down the highway to get it back into D. OR I press and hold the + paddle for about 2-3 seconds and it defaults back to D.

That is what mine always shows, the D and Gear, ti switches to M and gear when I use paddles. I cannot see what the full error message is on your screen so not sure if that ahs anything to do with this or not.

It probably says Radar Sensors dirty but as to answer OP's question, it shouldn't change unless a TCU update was performed.

That's interesting. My 2016 S550 Coupe always has shown the D1-D7 in the display. Since it was always that way I never looked into changing it. Anyway, I like it that way as I can always see what gear I'm in.

My 2015 S-600 has always displayed D1..D7 (except when I am paddle flipping where it reads M1..M7)
