2014 S550
New to me S550 2015-2016 maybe s63

A few months ago I gave up my cherry 2013 S550. I miss the car. I bought it with 30K on it and traded it with 81K. The car did not give me any trouble, it was very reliable without any issues. I am hoping to have the same luck with a W222 in the 15-16 area. The ones I am looking at have around 40-60K on them. I was thinking about a 750I but after visiting the BMW forums where the posts are filled with 'me car is broken' threads vs here where there are very little threads about broken cars I think the 550 is the more reliable car.

Anyways any advice would be appreciated.

Also I know this sounds insane but I found a mint 15 S63 with 117,000 on it for $40K

I just bought a 2015 S600 in May. Not an AMG so I cannot help you there, but the S600 and AMG cars are loaded mostly the same high end options. Lots of bells and whistles. Make sure you go through them. I didn’t but wish I had. I was able to buy an extended warranty which made me feel better. Long story, but the warranty didn’t cover the problems after I bought the car (they said pre existing) but the dealership I bought it from covered repairs. I was very fortunate they were a stand up dealership. Here were my issues:

1. Active seats did not work had to have plastic parts replaced inside the seats to get them to work.
2. Coolant low message but coolant is full and car does not run hot. Still have this issue. This message did not come up in my test drive.
3. Glass piece above the command knob is cracked. Does not work.

I found the same thing you did about the BMW 7 series so I immediately ruled them out. So far I’m really enjoying the car. I’ve put about 2500 miles on it.
