Recently been thinking of getting a used s450 as a daily drive car. The one I am looking for has ~35000 mileage on it and with white interier. Is there anything I need to watch out before purchase?
Is the facelift version expensive to maintain? I always do simple car maintance by myself such as oil change and brake rotors&pads change but I can never imagine to fix air suspension if it fails.
Any advice is appreciated. Cheers.

btw, I live in east coast where has heavy snow on winter.

W222 is relatively reliable, if you are concerned with the suspension, make sure you don't get one with air suspension.

I didn't know they come with "no air suspension" one.
In addition, does 35000~ mileage seem too much? There are couple with 20000~ milles but they cost couple grands more. Try to stay in budget as much as possible.

It is rare because those who want S-Class wants the softest ride and also regional dependent so some markets have it standard others don't, the standard suspension is actually very nice and... you guessed it, very S-Class like from what I heard.

Miles being a factor but whether or not the vehicle was taken proper care of is also another factor, was there documentation on when and what maintenance services has been performed?

I've never heard of any W222 US model without air suspension.
35K miles is nothing for this car. I have 2020 S450 with 32K miles and it drives like brand new.

I have a 2019 S450 that I have had for about 6 months, it's my daily, although I work from home so daily means running around after the kids! I think that it's a great car, I love the Driver Assistance package and use it almost every time I am on the highway, which is most days. While test driving, I thought that the Nappa Leather, which is standard on the 560 did feel a little more comfortable than the standard leather on the 450, not that the 450 is uncomfortable!
Emotionally I would have gone for a 560, a little more comfortable and a little more oomph! But, for once I stopped and made the start decision, and I have not been disappointed, my S450 does all that I ask of it, and does it in style and comfort!

2018 s450. 54k miles from new. No issues. I wish I’d got the 560 just for the Nappa leather - softer on your backside when driving long trips. Changed my own sparks, filters, aux battery and oil - about to do rotors and pads. Have 7 years/70k warranty for peace of mind. Btw these things eat tires - on my third set even though I drive like a granny.

I do notice a few s450 come with Nappa Leather option and def would consider that. I compared between 560 and 450 and decided 450 is the way to go with in mind that 560 has poor fuel economy(not that BAD) and cost more to maintain.
I do want one with adjustable rear seat though.

Battery from dealer cost me $150. Btw I chose the 450 for fuel economy too. I have exec seating package. Everyone loves it in the back - reduces trunk space a bit though.

The W222 is heavy hence why it wears tires quite a bit, non run-flats will yield a softer ride and in some cases better tire wear as well, 20s and 19s look good on the W222 but 18s will yield a much posher ride but not sure if the trade off in the looks department will be worth it. As for aux battery, someone else already mentioned the price, parts isn't the problem to be honest it is mainly the labour for the installation that is costly so if you can do it yourself or find an independent shop specializes these cars, that will be better (just imo though).

I'm actually extremely impressed by the fuel economy of my S560. It gets near 30 on the highway, and my global average over 28k miles is 20 MPG, which is phenomenal.

I drove the 450 and 560 back to back, and the V8 in the 560 makes the car. Before you get a 450, you need to drive a 560.

I had the M276 engine in a C350 and liked it. The S450 version is pumped up to 362 hp and people say it drives fine even in a much heavier car.

If I were shopping and found an S450 with the colors and the options I want, I'd consider it as they're quite a bit less than a V8 car.

Maybe I am the weirdo who is looking for s450 with 18s wheels... It's much easier to mount a winter tires on them later. Just my thought. But I def like the 19s and 20s looking.
I can do most of maintances myself and also know a friend who run a decent shop so I should be good on this part.
Just can't help myself looking over and over again of s450's specs every night...... lol

That's quite impressive! I do own a benz v8 suv and this thing DRINKS gas..... and I just don't feel like it to drive it around as daily drive anymore.

Honestly, I would too fit the smallest wheels for winter because more tire sidewall in the snow is better. Just my opinion though.

i have the 18 s450 4matic and daily drive in NYC. I purchased the car back in 2020 and was out of warranty early this year. Never had any issues, just oil changes and brake pads which is routine maintenance. I bought an extended warranty til 100K but haven't used it once.

Little difference between an AMG GLE63S and an S560...you should at least drive the 560...
