Anyone else has issues using a radar detector? Any way to get carplay on 2014+?
So I just got my W222 a week ago. I have a Uniden R7 radar. I vaguely remember reading that due to ceramic coating in the windows a radar is useless. However I have the same type of coating on my RR LWB and the radar works decent (not at the rate it should but gives a good warning to slow down). Long story short last Friday I got a ticket by a strict bythe book revenue generator. Guy showed zero courtesy and zero professionalism but that's no surprise. By the time the Uniden went off it was way too late. I noticed that a few more times this weekend that by the time the radar alerts you its already too late. Even on straight flat roads it picks it up far too late. I was wondering if there is any better placement for a radar on the windshield that others may use? The R7 is bulky and I also have the camera attachment for a dashcam so it makes things more complicated.
Second question I could have been saved had I been looking at waze. I have a 2015 which does NOT have carplay. I see a bunch of kits to retrofit carplay is their a specific one anyone can suggest?
thx for any insightful thoughts

There are two specific placed on the windshield you need to put the detector. If you look carefully in sunlight you will see they have a yellowish tint. to the right of the rear-view mirror and in the low center position of the windshield.
The choice CarPlay units are JoyEAuto and RoadTop. Both are very similar and pretty good (read: not perfect).
