Need brakes, want less dust but still good performance, what are your thoughts?

So my car is in for the 30k A service, and the brakes are at 4MM all around. I was quoted $1,200 to replace the pads (pretty sure just the pads) all around, I declined so I could do more research first.

I'm very happy with the performance of the OEM brakes, but the dust is bad, its gotten better as the car has aged but new pads mean I would be back to the high dusting.

What has everybody's experience been with different ceramic offerings? Should I replace the rotors as well?

Thanks!

I just did the pads all around on my 2019 S63 and went with Powerstop Z26 ceramic pads. My pads were still fine but I was sick of all of the dust. $115.00 delivered to my door. Pretty easy install and if your rotors are not pulsating or vibrating on stops and you do not have a bad ridge on the rotor face edges there is no need to replace them. Best $115.00 I spent on my car. Wheels now stay clean as long as the car and never really accumulate dust. Performance is the same in the 1000 miles or so of driving that I have done with the new ones.

Yeah I came across them in my reading. I was looking at EBC Redstuff pads too but they don't seem to really be any sort of low dusting pad.

No pulsating or vibrating in the rotors at all, they stop nice and smooth. No ridge but the braking surface is a little wavy. When I get the car back i will post pictures

I just replaced all 4 corners, pads only last week.
Used these for front : https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo...&a=PowerStopPK
These for rear : https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo...&a=PowerStopPK

Total cost was about $80 (parts). Took me about 1,5 hour to do it myself. Easiest job to do.
No any dust for the last week since I washed the car. Excellent stopping power. Very satisfied.

Those are exactly what I'm looking at too, and you obviously kept the OEM rotors?

Yes, still original rotors. My car has only 32K miles. The pads were also fine, but I just got tired of dust like superpop above.

Yeah mine is 29,500 miles, pads are 4mm...I may make it to the next service at 40,000 miles but it would be tight.

Dust is a big issue for me too, and the thought of going back to them new when they dusted way more isn't appealing...

My solution was a triple ceramic coat to the wheels. Everything slides right off.

When I got my car it had Brembo pads in front, and I can say they are dirtiest pads I've ever experienced. I haven't replaced the rears yet but I was surprised to find a layer of brake dust all over the lower rear fenders the other day. Silly me, I thought brake dust was only an issue for wheels!

So far my new EBC Redstuff pads in front give off much less dust and have a nice bite. I'll be putting these on the back too, either when the ones on there now wear out or I get fed up with all the dust, whichever comes first!

My goal is to not have the dust accumulate on the wheels in the first place. Washing it off isn't difficult, I just dont want the car to look dirty after 5 miles of driving.

I got rid of my 20" wheels a couple of months ago and put on some 3-piece forged wheels in 19".

My surprise was that these (polished aluminum) do not hang onto brake dust like the old painted ones (the damnable 20-spokes ones).

Went with Porterfields on my s560. The difference in dust is insane and the breaks fell better than oem so far. I put them on factory rotors. Pads were more than the power stops for sure.
