I had a cracked panoramic (glass) roof on my 2016 S550 C4 and my auto insurance covered it, less my deductible, when MBZ wouldn't cover it. It was pretty obviously stress cracking but MBZ said it had to have been a rock even though there was no impact point visible. But MBZ paid my deductible for "customer relations."

That is DEFINITELY not repairable. Wether it will be covered by insurance or not is up to your specific policy. Some states require glass coverage, while most keep it optional. If you live in a state with optional glass coverage, you likely do not have it unless you demanded excellent coverage when you signed up (and didn't shop for the "lowest price"). It will be expensive to replace with OE MB glass ($2000-$3000), but isn't too bad if you use aftermarket glass ($500-1000). Good luck!

Thanks for the advice but do you have to be such a downer? 😂

Is it too late to get back my Buick?

Does Mercedes-Benz have bullet proof glass?

It’s not! But could you go back to it?

Some MB do (the Guard series) but yours does not! Just imagine how expensive that must be! The high cost of yours has to do with impregnated UV layer and all the integrated sensors / cutouts. I’ve had mixed luck with aftermarket brands - some are great and some have obvious waves and flaws.

what state do you reside in?
as state insurance laws differ when it comes to windshields and comp insurance.
In my state nothing special and treated like I got hit by someone normal deductible.

With this crack in the windshield I am worried about rain getting in. Should I be worried? I'm trying to get an appointment at the dealer ASAP but they are quite busy.

EDIT: Service person says not to worry about rain but I will minimize driving.

Total cost will be $1681.84. It was going to be $600 but they have to order the special 4Matic windshield for the S560.

My insurance deductible is $500. That's nice.

windshield is 2 pieces of glass making a sandwich with a special plastic sticky stuff in middle.

This sticky plastic is what makes it safety glass and preventing things from shooting thru glass and breaking inside glass with rock hits.

Water should not leak in since it is the inside peice of glass that seals to the car body around edges and if you ever got hole in glass, you would hear crazy wind noises.

My windshield was replaced a while back & honestly, I'm very disappointed w my MB dealership's work. They billed me $2300 (insurance deductible was $500) And they "installed" my windshield but never reconnected the heated windshield. (My speed limit assist also does not function) I only found this out when I had coding done to my car. If you have HUD, that will need to be recalibrated, too. Make sure to ask many questions & get straight answers.
