Im not so happy ... BMW just body slammed MB
We just got slammed by BMW.... WWF off the top rope..
If you search on u tube for; 2023 BMW I7 amazing
you will find a review by some "doug" guy...
The new 7 series electric
BMW decided to NOT make the slipperyist? car in the world at the expense of looks
they went completely over the top with tech and yet have a true 7 physique
This is what i wanted so badly from MB !!!
aside from the 2 dollar add-tablet, which they did ever so slightly integrate, the I7 really has all signs of the best engineering that BMW has to offer. There is real imagination in this vehicle
It looks, in a word, amazing..... for an electric
And it has next level technological design and features ..
And this sucks, because i have been MB true and blue for ever
and i am currently stuck with the best benz ever IMHO, but the W222 is now old... still amazing... but old
Dont like the bland W223, and the EQS is just not appealing enough
That frigging I7 appears to be amazing (if they integrate the displays, i think id have to DO IT)... I can't believe I just said that...to think, id buy the beaver faced competition!!!... heaven forbid!!!
Sign,
stuck and in a bad mood
ps...wtf

MB will have a traditional S Class EV in the next generation. I think the front end is hideous on the new i7, but I do like that its a traditional sedan.
IMO, the W223 is a much more appealing car than this new 7, unless you just must have an EV.

I suppose that's why there is choice. If you can get over that front, then maybe the i7 is for you. While it might not matter in this segment, but an odd choice by BMW is that the i7 is slower than the V8 and more lethargic due to the additional weight. It's a nice example of what the extra weight of EVs does to the car's dynamics. The V8 drives much better than the i7, but fully electric makes total sense for a luxury barge.

Watch the CarWow review. V8 sub 4 seconds 0-60, whereas the i7 is almost mid 4 seconds. Instant torque, yeah, but slower, and the extra weight of the i7 is felt around corners and while accelerating when driven back to back, hence more lethargic. It's a fatter and slower version.

If I were to get one of these, no doubt I would get the EV.

Who cares? 0-60 in 4.5 seconds is plenty fast for me. It’s what I have now. Of course it won’t handle as well as the lighter car but it will ride better because of the weight, and you have the perfectly smooth and silent EV powertrain.

I recently watched a review of this new "Super uber ultimate driving machine hyper car" video . The driver said his view was obscured by the supersized display when it was folded down as well as the front passenger seat when it was folded down to increase the comfort the occupant of the right reat seat or BOSS .Well, at least I have not heard of any comments from any driver whose view was badly impaired by those comfortable accessories in a Mercedes-Benz

Who's talking about the next gen S-Class? Who says they're going back to a traditional design? The 223 is bland compared to the 222, and the EQS is even softer. They're also very young into their life-cycles. Haven't even had the mid-cycle refresh yet! I think you're spinning wishful thinking, at the very least.

My point was, Mercedes WILL have a more traditionally styled EV S class at some point. Just like hybrids, once the early adopters are clear the masses want a more traditional look.

Yes, I have, and I also understand how physics works. You can't discuss away almost 1000 lbs more for the i7 that you have to move in any kinda of driving, as much as you think instant torque is a panacea, unless you compensate for that extra weight with additional power, which the i7 doesn't. Both the V8 and i7 have the same power rating, and the V8 actually makes slightly more torque and the i7 doesn't make the full power unless you press the paddle on the steering wheel to engage Boost. The V8 always makes the full power.

S560 curb weight: ~4700lbs

And the Model 3 Dual Motor weighs ~ 4,100 lbs, and 0-60 times are very similar to the S560. But the power feels different, it feels much faster from a stop even though its not.

I guess the fact that M-B is already talking about the follow-on S-Class/EV means they are taking heat for their current 223/EQS split design approach. Or maybe just that the economics of having two different platforms can't be sustained in the future. Plus, the fact that they are merging the next car(s) into a single design doesn't necessarily mean they will return to a "traditional" S-Class design.
