A USA model factory glass had that cutout (all models where equipped with IR glass).

Trying to parse your message. So any model sold in USA would have that rectangle area aka IR on the windshield glass? Funny because I didn’t notice it before.

Yes all trims in the USA had IR glass and all IR windshields have that square.

So why did I not notice it for 3 months until my glass was replaced?

You might have had an aftermarket glass (without IR b/c IR is expensive) or I'm not a doctor but you might be going crazy.

They all have that cutout, but it sounds like the replacement MB glass it may be more noticeable...

Probably because you didn’t really look at the glass until you had it replaced?

That would be appreciated. What is your story? Why a new windshield? Would like to know if yours says KARL / CARL BENZ or just MERCEDES?

I would not completely discount this, it really does happen. Back when I used to work on cars customers would ask about something that was always there after some work was done because they were now examining that area or feature closely.

I always complained to my dealer that I felt cold in the winter. He showed me the window close buttons that I had never noticed. 😳

🤣🤣🤣

I think I found the issue! My Windshield says PGW, which I was originally worried about. After going to the MB Dealership, I noticed many side windows of brand new Mercedes share the same stamp. Turns out Daimler & PGW (Pittsburg Glass Works) are partnered & PGW is the main supplier for MB windows. This partnership started in 09', but I guess mercedes wanted to use in-house glass for original glass & PGW for replacement.

I wasn’t kidding! Everyone looks through their windshield, but very few people look at it. If you look for the yellow areas they really stand out. But otherwise they go unnoticed.

To be honest, I never noticed them in any capacity that bugs me, only from the outside and when the sun is at the right place.
