Heater windshield feature?

Hey everyone, so I just picked up a 2015 s550, has all the options besides a fridge. I noticed on my build sheet it says heated windshield, is this just activated when the front defrosters are on or is there something specific to turn it on.
best regards

Does button 5, "Defrost the Windshield" invoke both electronic heating and conventional blowing of hot air through dash vents onto the glass?

based off that I assume once you press “max” for front windshield it heats up by itself

You guys got me wondering about the actual physical windshield now. I recall Range Rover windshields have tiny thin wires embedded for that heating feature, but I don’t remember noticing it on the s-class.

Are you asking if your vehicle has it, code 597 will show on data card.

Yes, there is a barely visible miniature wire grid in the layers of glass.

FYI, just posted elsewhere, be sure to check your insurance to make sure you have an OEM glass replacement option if the parts are not available elsewhere, which it isn't for the windshield if you have the HUD (heads up display) and heated options. If not get the extra coverage now as it costs over $4000 to replace so it's right up there with engine, transmission & drive train replacement costs
